An example of how the print out can be used. Choose your own colors and get to work!

I like to give credit where credit is due & if it weren't for a fellow photog friend that shared this back in 2018....I may not have stumbled upon this cool idea.  So! thank you --> Amanda <-- with Simply Savvy Photography!

As you may or may not know, I'm Vanessa! I am an entrepreneur extraordinaire: I am a graphic designer, photographer (721vanessa Photography), craft lady, crystal/mineral/rock collector and bag hoarder. (Victoria's Secret gets me every.single.time) I guess I'm a writer now too? Depends on your definition of writer ;)

from: Greenish Planning

Please note: I am not affiliated with the above people/business. This is not a paid advertisement. This is simply a cool idea being passed on for others to see/use.

I originally created my downloadable file back in 2018. I recently got one of those spam emails telling me that my link was broken on my website. Which made me think maybe I should update this file. The whole reason I took the site down was because I put 2018 on the downloadable file. So I went back... and took the year off & updated a new file. That way you can fill in the year yourself!

Since it had been awhile... I thought I should re-research my information. (Is re-research even a word?) I see now where Greenish Planning has their own free version of this pixels page as well. If you like theirs better --> Click Here. I don't remember this being available when I was originally looking for a printable, which is why I created my own.

For more info on either places click their names & it shall lead you down a rabbit hole of even more neat ideas!

Here is the version I created

Above is the version I created for myself but wanted to share it with others. (For free of course!)

If you like my version...you can download it here: Pixels

I have to admit, when I first printed mine out... I kept up with it starting Jan 1 and made it until mid February. They say habits form after 21 consecutive days. You would have thought that I would have kept it up. I don't think my brain is wired for habits.

I am a perfectionist... I like things to look and feel a certain way.

I had to start over on my first attempt at this. You might think, WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO START OVER??? HOW MUCH SIMPLER COULD THIS BE?

Here's why!

  1. I used those fat crayola markers and they bled through the paper.
  2. I printed this on cheap normal paper

Here are my recommendations for your best experience

Don't use markers. Like... at all. Use color pencils. I recommend Prismacolor. THEY ARE SO GOOD! Here's a link to a locally owned business in my town. (SUPPORT LOCAL!) Bluestocking Social

Print on card stock or some form of a heavier weight paper.

After you select the colors you are going to use for the journal, keep your journal paper and pencils in a location that you will see EVERY DAY. Do you have a certain spot in your home or office that is "yours". Do you go to it everyday? I have two spots in the house that are my go-to chill zones.

Find a time of day that makes sense to fill this out. At first, I tried doing this in the morning with my cup of coffee. Then I realized that wasn't an accurate description of my day. You could absolutely wake up in a great mood, but it could go sour by the end of the day.

I had many days where I split the day in half with a diagonal on the square. Part of my day was amazing and part of my day sucked.

THE SKY IS THE LIMIT WITH THIS THING!!!

Also, who cares if you skip a day, a week, or a month? It's YOUR experience, YOUR journal, YOUR rules.

And, who knows... maybe you want to frame it when you're done & hang it on the wall?

I can also be found on Facebook, Instagram, Creatively, Buy Me a Coffee, and my website.

Did this post help you? Give it a heart, a share, or if you’re feeling extra --> tips are appreciated too 🥳 Want to share your journal with me? I’d love to see it! Email me: [email protected]
