There’s no advantage to hurrying through life. — Shikamaru Nara

Have you also the feeling of rushing through your life only brings unnecessary stress and anxiety?

That this greatly affect your person’s mental health state?

Stress is the opposite of peace, hence, by rushing, you cannot find peace.

These aspects also affect your surrounding people. You take away their peace too.

So, will rushing through your life do you good?

I went to graduate school and witnessed my former classmates and schoolmates thrive in their own businesses, do well in their careers, and start their own families.

This made me feel like I was being left behind. This is a common problem people in Gen Z have.

1. You Are a Work in Progress

It’s okay if you don’t know what you want to be and where you want to go if you’re 25, 30, or even 40.

It’s healthy to accept that some of us still don’t know which path to take, and that’s okay. We need to re-divert and reroute our lives repeatedly, and that’s still okay.

Eventually, we’ll end up where we need to be and where we belong.

The road might be bumpy, long, and scary, but there are always things to think about that could make the journey less frightening.

These are things I learned that will help the journey be worth taking.

2. Detach Yourself From Negative Thoughts

You must let go of all the negativity, the negatives only weigh you down.

Having a positive mindset makes you think straight and helps you evaluate the hows and whys of the journey. Don’t look down on yourself.

You are a work in progress, and you always will be.

You will realize there’s always room for improvement. It will get better. You will get there. An important thing is for you to make the journey worthwhile.

3. Keep People Who Bring Out Your Potential

Keep the people who support you and bring out the best in you. They are the ones who will push you to be strong and find your path.

They are the ones who will stay by your side when the journey gets rough.

They will lift you up when you fall and cheer you on with every little win.

Finding your path is also a matter of having the right companions to traverse the long road ahead. These people are usually your families, boyfriends or girlfriends, and closest friends.

Make sure the relationships you build are healthy and bright. This will result in beneficial growth and journey.

4. Focus on What's Best for You

Seeing others reaching their goals should not lead to insecurity or jealousy.

Instead, be happy for them and focus on yourself.

Focus on your growth and your happiness. Make the most out of your success story. One day you'll look back and smile at the times you were strong and happy despite the challenges you faced.

Always remember that seeing others reach the peak of their goals does not mean you need to do so too.

It's your own pace that matters.

5. Have the Courage To Move Forward

You must learn to rise after being defeated. Learn from your wrongs and make them a part of your strength to conquer your goals and dreams.

You must not lose sight of the bigger picture just because of fleeting feelings. Repeatedly you will encounter events and people who will try to bring you down. You must not succumb to them.

What matters is YOU.

Don't be a prisoner of what others think you should be, because this will stop you from moving forward.

6. Accept Constructive Criticism

This is a way for self-improvement. We don't always see what we are doing wrong. It's good to know that there are people who point out where we are good at and where we sometimes lack.

The key to success is knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

This will lead you to where you need to be. Acceptance that you are not perfect is a strength that not all people are strong enough to have.

7. Be Kind to Yourself at All Times

Be kind to yourself at all times. Don't beat yourself up for not being where you want to be immediate.

Give yourself time to rest, slow down, and recharge.

Self-compassion will play a huge role in getting you where you need to be. Always remember to forgive yourself. You are human. Mistakes are bound to be made. It's how you learn and transform into a better person.

The bottom line is, you are the first person who'll pat yourself on the back and say, "good job".

Being kind to oneself also results in peace of mind.

When you realize you are enough, it brings you serenity and contentment. Growth is both a strange and beautiful journey. Breathe it in and embrace it.

Our lives have trials, but those make us flourish and bloom into the beautiful people we were born to be. We will all eventually improve in aspects that we choose to live for. It's just a matter of learning and realizing no matter how long, you'll eventually reach the end of the tunnel.

8. Patience and Acceptance Is the Driver in Your Journey

Different people have different lives, different struggles, and different journeys.

I'm happy that my former classmates and schoolmates are where they wanted to be. I'll take them as an inspiration and find my own path, no matter how long it takes.

I'll get there soon, and all I can hope for is that my journey could be an inspiration to those struggling to find their own paths.

I'm okay with not knowing where I want to end up, because I know I'll rest someday knowing that I have already arrived.

To you who is reading this, enjoy the travel and focus on what matters most for your growth.

We simply always ask:

Am I even moving forward?

I'm even questioning my own choices.

Did I choose the right path?

Will I ever get to my goal?

These questions I've learned to answer with a big YES.

We all have our own pacing. We bloom in different times and different seasons, regardless of age. Once we learn to love the process, we learn to embrace the ups and downs of the journey. This will bring us to success.
