You may need to change some aspects of your way of thinking, as well as make some changes in your appearance, but in the end, you'll feel much better about yourself.

Update your wardrobe

If you want your journey towards self-confidence goes from the external changes to the inner ones, the best way to start is by updating your wardrobe. The start of the New Year is the perfect timing for a change like this. Leave all the dull clothes you have behind and step up your fashion game. This kind of change will take you some time and money, but it will pay off.

The thing is that people will perceive you differently when you better your fashion choices. Not only other people, you will perceive yourself differently once you get clothing that will make you feel comfortable and attractive. You don’t have to change your style completely, but if you start with small adjustments, you will improve your confidence significantly.

Work on your appearance

If you update your wardrobe, you will definitely feel better about yourself. This is only the beginning. One of the best things you can do to boost your confidence is to pay more attention to your skin and hair. Start from your skin. Inform yourself and develop a skincare routine that works best for you. Don't neglect your skin if you want to really feel confident. Even doing the bare minimum of getting rid of the dark circles under the eyes will do a lot for your confidence.

Then, look at your hair. Pay a visit to the best hairdresser in Melbourne and let experts help your hair shine. Pay attention to your face shape and complexion and find the perfect hairstyle and hair color for you. Find the features you like and do your best to accentuate them.

Fix your posture

You may struggle with your confidence if you have bad posture. When you sit, make sure to sit up straight. This way, you’ll maintain muscle strength and balance. But, not only for these reasons, having good posture is important for your confidence too.

Your body can shape your thoughts. This may sound ridiculous, but it actually makes sense. Once you start sitting up straight, you'll feel much more empowered and capable of anything than before. You can always test this and pay attention to your thoughts while you slouch and while you change your posture.

Visit the gym more often

When it comes to exercising, you don’t do it just for losing weight. Exercising is very important if you want to lead a healthier lifestyle. If you start exercising most days of the week, you’ll be able to improve your physical appearance and health.

When you exercise, your mood immediately gets better and you consequently feel more confident. Even though this is only a short-term benefit, it can easily become more than that. When you start working out regularly, you’ll even decrease your chances of depression. You can also practice outdoors in the fresh air to improve your mood even more. All you need to do is put on some sneakers, go to Mayer Park, and do a series of push-ups.

Practice self-compassion

You may be very nice to others and still fail in being kind. Being kind isn’t just about being kind to others, but it’s about being kind to yourself too. You’ll hardly be self-confident if you don’t practice self-compassion.

Once you start practicing self-compassion, you’ll be able to acknowledge your flaws and limitations. When you achieve higher levels of self-compassion, you’ll unconsciously improve your confidence. You’ll eventually find yourself more happy, optimistic, and positive in general.

Be proud of yourself

You may catch yourself seeking acceptance from other people. You may feel insecure about your appearance, about the way you speak, or your attitudes and opinions. Because of this insecurity, you may unconsciously seek acceptance from others. The truth is that you don't have to care about other people's acceptance to that extent. It's your love and acceptance that you should care about the most.

Pay more attention to your qualities and think of them more. Be proud of your words and actions. Don’t ignore your flaws either. Instead of ignoring them, learn to accept them and always work on making yourself a better person. Keep track of your progress and develop a healthier perspective at the world and yourself. Mark down your goals and once you accomplish them to give yourself some kind of a reward. Eventually, you'll develop a healthier relationship with yourself that will result in better confidence and quality of life in general.

If you weren’t happy with yourself before, now is the time you changed that. If you have the opportunity, follow this list and learn how to feel great in your skin.
