13 Proven Ways To Improve Yourself

Are you someone who believes self-improvement is an integral part of changing and becoming a better person? Have you always clamour to become a better version of yourself. You've been on the search of somewhere to start your journey on self-improvement? Search no more.

Grab a pen and jotter, let's learn!

3 years ago, I embarked on the journey of personal growth. My passion for improvement has been of great help. It keeps me motivated, especially when I hit roadblock.

Few days ago, I decided to write on how I'm able to improve different areas of my life. Here you have it, enjoy.

1. Read Books

Reading books is 'a must" for anyone who is serious about wanting improvement in their life. "Book" is a world on its own, world full of wisdom, insights and great lessons. Chances are, whatever problem you're facing someone has faced it and wrote a book on how they survived it. From finance, Relationship, Self-development, Career, Business, Lifestyle to Politics. Many books have been written on them, yours is to go out there and get them.

Some books I've read and found helpful are, Awalen The Giant Within, Change Your Thinking Changing Your Life, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Power of Positive Thinking, Power of Now, The Rules of Life and The Rules of Work.

2. Do Something New

Go outside the norm, do something spontaneous, for something different from what you're used to. Remember "To get the result you haven't got before, you have to do something you have not done before."

Example of something new to consider doing are playing football, basketball, ice skating, dancing, singing, cooking, writing, drawing, graphics design and photography, etc.

Do something new introduces your mind to something refreshing and entertaining. It requires your mind to stretch beyond limits, which in turn, fast track your growth.

3. Learn a New Language

To increase my wealth of knowledge, I'm currently learning Spanish.

How nice would it be to find yourself in a situation whereby you're among the few who can speak a language someone needs to badly they are ready to pay for your service on translation.

Aside that, learning a new language will get you acquainted to culture to the language. And that, I call, A Mind-Blowing Experience.

4. Change Some Default

The quality of your life depends on people and things we see and constantly think of. Your environment has a lot of contribution to make on your journey of personal improvement. Little changes in different aspects of your life can do more than you can possibly imagine.

Paint your room. Re-decorate your home. Change your wardrobe. Meet new people. Take new route to work and come back through route you have passed before. Visit new places. In short, change things a bit!

5. Set Goals

Setting goals is as importance as goals themselves. Setting goals gives you a sense of direction, it helps you focus on few things that are relevant rather than doing different things randomly without having anything to show of it.

Set daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and even decade goals.

6. Know Your Fears and Tackle Them

We all have fears. Something holding us back from our true potentials, something undermining our growth and stopping us from attaining great heights.

List out your fears, scale them on a level of difficulty, from the least to the most frightening. Devise a way to tackle them one after the other.

Come closer, let me whisper something into your ears, "If you're able to work on your fears, you're unstoppable!

7. Upgrade Your Skill

Moving to a higher rank in your level of expertise in a particular field is part of what "self-improvement" is all about. If you love writing, consider owning a blog. If you find speaking to be something of fun, seek more knowledge on how to speak right.

8. Exercise Frequently

Exercise has been proven to be one of the great ways to prove one'semtal and physical state of health. Jogging at least thrice a week, for a minimum of thirty minutes is superb.

It is ideal you mix things up by attending gym lessons and hoomg for swimming. They're all good for your body.

9. Visualise The Future You

Think and write on who you want to see yourself because in years to come. Make it a duration of five years. Cut and paste the copy somewhere you can frequently see it. At the end of each year, review the list. How realistic is becoming such person? What habit do you need to stop or adopt to get back on track?

Ask your self these question and other relating to it, then make necessary changes.

10. Have a Mentor

Having someone to guide you on your journey of improvement can not be overemphasised before it saves you tons of resources. Time, money, energy can all be properly utilised with the help of the right mentor. Go find one.

11. Practice Meditation

Meditation is known to help keep one calm. It makes you more aware of yourself and surroundings. It helps improve the quality of your thinking and your life in general. A 20 minutes of meditation each day will help eliminate toxic thoughts and feelings.

12. Get Into Action

Whatever it is you want to achieve in life, you have to work towards it. You won't develop as a human being if all you do is "wish" and "hope". Stop wishing and hoping, start acting!

13. Stay Committed

Reading books is good. Learning a new language is can be a good decision to make. Having a mentor is awesome. Practicing meditation, exercising frequently and upgrading your skills are all bunch of good things to do. It's just unfortunate nothing will work if you're not committed to them. You won't get maximum result if you handle them with levity.

To improve tremendously, on every area of your life. You must stay committed to your decisions.
