There is a new statement trends for weddings... and I am actually considering it as an option. With that said, the trend doesn't seem to have been as successful as wedding boutiques thought it would be... there are tons of them on sale all over the internet. If the cape was done right, would you consider wearing one on your big day?

An interesting transition from veils is to replace it with a cape instead.

They can come in a wide variety of styles:

  • Whimsical
  • Theatrical
  • Modern
  • Vintage
  • So much more!

Capes can enhance your overall look for a wide variety of reasons. The most common reason to add a cape to your wearing ensemble is to create a dramatic look. However, it's not the only reason that capes are a good idea on your wedding day. If your dress is overall simple, a cape can add that extra something. If it's a winter wedding you are having, it can help keep you warm during all the speeches. If you want a timeless or vintage feel, a short cape would be certainly help achieve that goal.

ALBERTA FERRETTI

Adding a cape to your wedding ensemble is a great way to add any wanted lace or sparkles. The cape itself doesn't have to be built in, you can buy it separately. It's also a great way to increase modesty during the church ceremony.

They can come in all kinds of fabrics and styles, so you're not stuck with a medieval-looking traditional cape. They can be plain tulle like the traditional veil, or they can be decorated in glistening beads, delicate lace, pearls and even feathers. If you don't want to an overly bold cape, you can always get a sheer silk cape. Don't forget about the length; you can get your cape in all kinds of sizes from full-length silhouettes to cropped capelets.

Not Your Average Capes

These aren't the kind of capes superheroes from comic books wear, they are elegant and (usually) all dressed in white. Wedding capes have been seen in many collections of Ines Di Santo, Vania Romoff, Zuhair Murad, Alberta Ferretti and many more.
