Let me start off by saying that being engaged is so much fun! I loved (almost) every moment from the proposal to the wedding planning to the bachelorette party to finally making it down the aisle. The one part of the wedding planning process that proved to be a difficult, albeit silly decision, was the engagement photos. My now-husband and I got engaged the eve of New Years Eve, 2016. We were so excited and overwhelmed with the new chapter of our lives just beginning. With so much to do and so many plans to make from so far away, we initially decided we were not going to do engagement photos. We got a few phenomenal photos from the actual proposal which were so beautiful, we figured that would be enough. Plus, we live in Los Angeles and our wedding photographer was all the way in Canada (where our wedding would be) and we didn’t know the next time we would return to have the opportunity to shoot with him. On top of that, we are definitely not capable of looking lovey dovey in a field at sunset where it seems most engagement shoots take place.
Congratulations, you're getting married. I grew up always imagining my wedding, and I am sure that is the same for a lot of girls out there. So now we have a ring, it's time to pick a dress!
“Oh no…oh my gosh. MOM!!” Think of weddings like Murphy’s Law – if something can go wrong, it will. Dress buttons pop, hair falls, centerpieces break, bridal party members get lost, and occasionally, someone passes out. Terrifying to think of anything ruining your perfect day, isn’t it? Well worry not, my fair brides (and moms), I’ve got you covered.
Do not start preparing for the wedding too soon because you will only risk stretching out such a stressful period of your life. The optimal time to start preparing for is six months.
Like most little girls, I dreamed of my wedding day. I planned the little intricacies and pomp with flare while imagining I was a princess wearing white. I became more and more jaded by hate of dating, and my dreams of becoming a bride faded into a dream that I would have after eating a whole pizza while watching Game of Thrones. Yeah, I was that girl—the nerdy girl who ate whole pizzas on Sunday night. Fast forward to now, I have been with the love of my life, Matt, for 5 years this November, and even after losing my engagement ring in Italy (while I was on set working), the wedding is still on, and I have never been more overwhelmed. Not only do I suffer from bouts of depression, but I have really bad anxiety at times.
Every detail matters on your wedding day. From the stunning aisle decorations to the cake and the accessories on the alter, it's important to choose the perfect signature cocktail. And just like your cake, the style of drink you choose depends entirely on the aesthetic of your wedding. This awesome wedding drink round-up has something for everyone. To keep guests happy and hydrated on your wedding day, say "I do" to one of these signature cocktails.
I'm a true believer that a wedding can tell you volumes about a couple. It can tell you who their biggest friends are, what they value, the type of lifestyle they'll have together, and also their socioeconomic status. It also can be a great indicator of whether a marriage will last.
Most little girls dream about extravagant weddings, with an array of flowers and fireworks and fancy decorations. Then we get older and wedding bells are around the corner, with Pinterest throwing in your face color schemes and satin dresses and ten inch heels. You open your bank account and feel like slamming your head into a wall, wondering, How the hell are we going to pay for all of this?
