Social media is the way that most of the world communicates and connects with others. Have you ever looked into a fitness group on social media? There are many fitness influencers who use social media as their platform. These top influencers are using social media to obtain their fitness and financial goals. Social media provides constant information for those who are starting a fitness or who is interested in a health change. The Internet is known as the go-go source leading more hospitals and health care professionals to participate in social media. Health care organizations are using this informal platform to give their patients more tips. @BrittneeBabeFitness was created by a 24-year-old who focused her life around fitness. Doing research, there was no indication of her real name, but she is known as “Queen of Home Workouts.” She turned her passion into a job by using social media as her business. Evidence is not shown where she is originally from, but it is indicated that she lives and conducts her business in Lost Angeles, California. She is considered an online influencer and coach. @BrittneeBabe has over one million followers because of her special way of people seeing a difference in their body without a gym. Her online workout plans are strictly for home workouts. Five to ten-pound dumbbells and a workout mat are the only materials she requires for your workout journey. The most inspiring concept that Brittne created was her 21-day challenge. She has created nine volumes of this 21-day challenge. A new volume is created after a 21-day challenge ends. Each challenge/volume consists of workout plans for 21 days. There is a 30-minute video for each day, Monday-Saturday. The last day of the week consists of a “post-stretch.” All of the Britnee’s workouts are within her own home in Los Angeles. She has thousands of purchases for this online workout plan. Her programs are designed for the person looking to begin and maintain a healthy lifestyle. She informs potential buyers that the journey will be filled with success, failure, temptation, and celebration. In order to conduct my own research, I purchased Volume 8. I did not complete all of the days, every day, but the workouts are tough. She creates the easiest workout moves, but you will still be drenched in sweat after the session.

For only $20, you’ll have a step-by-step workout by Brittne, a journal book, and a nutrition book. Her nutrition includes instructions on how to meal prep, a menu guide, portion control. Her nutrition book also includes 21 menu plans, consisting of meals that I eat daily. It also includes a five-day keto plan. She believes that the keto plan is a great diet that focuses on natural food choices while eliminating sugar from your diet. This figure is an illustration of the first four meal plans that she created. Also, she is considered an athlete for one of the top sports nutrition company—Women’s Best. This company offers products consisting of sports nutrition, such as protein, protein snacks, capsules, supplements, and superfoods. Women’s Best also offers sportswear. Brittne Babe Fitness also has a closed Facebook page for the women who have purchased these workout plans from her. There are over 20,000 members that are included in this group. This Facebook page includes inspirational post, motivation, and announcements from Brittnee. Women from across the world are coming together to help each other get through their workout journey.

Michelle Obama, the best First Lady there was, believed that taking control of our health is essential. Today, women are so focused on dress and pant sizes. We are up against constant reminders and pressures to look good and take shortcuts to get there. A shortcut for being healthy is nonexistent. There are so many weight loss surgeries that are available for women who want to take the easy way out. In most cases, the surgeries are temporary, and the weight comes back. Michelle believed that being a healthy woman isn’t about getting on a scale or measuring your waistline. It is important to focus on what matters—on how we feel and how we feel about ourselves. Before you start your journey, the first thing that you should consider is: “What are you eating?” You are what you eat. Also, as a woman, it is important to think of exercising being an investment instead of a chore or something you have to do. She suggested that it is important to get in a routine of consistent physicals and screenings. These preventive screenings will help women avoid conditions like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes:

It used to be that even many women with health insurance would skip these check-ups because of the cost. In fact, before the health reform law that my husband signed back in 2010, some insurance companies would routinely charge women 50 percent more than men for the same coverage because they needed more frequent access to preventative services like mammograms and cervical screenings. Fortunately, the new health care bill makes that discrimination against women illegal starting in 2014, and today, insurance companies are required to cover life-saving cancer screenings and other preventive services like contraception and immunizations without a co-pay. (Obama, 2012)

Also, First Lady Obama focused on the importance of America’s move to raise a healthier generation of kids. She quoted, “In the end, as First Lady, this isn’t just a policy issue for me. This is a passion. This is my mission. I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition” (Obama, 2012). Although women are important, Michelle’s focus was primarily on the importance of health in children and obesity rates. Michelle had five main focus points that she wanted the program, Let’s Move! The Task Force recommendations focus on the five pillars of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! Initiative: Creating a healthy start for children, Empowering parents and caregivers, providing healthy food in schools, improving access to healthy and affordable foods and increasing physical activity (Obama, 2012). Parents, health care professionals, and elected officials all have roles to play. As women, there are a lot of responsibilities that we have to face. Taking care of yourself goes a long way. As a mother, it is important to show your children that it is okay to put yourself a little higher on your priority list.
