How often do you see skiers skiing down the side of a mountain, or a hill, and needing some assistance in gained momentum?

Never, of course, everyone sees this but there are always exceptions. Beginning runners sometimes find themselves in this situation. drained but still full of energy, they pick up the pace a little and with a bit of help from gravity, they pick off a few more striped mulek, deer or elk.

It just does not make sense that way...but don't worry, you are not alone. You can have the same problem yourself. Maybe you are not making it up the side of the mountain to gain the next section. There are many, many reasons but here are just a few.

Well why not make a reason to take up a sport that is for most, an upper-body sport and get the upper body of the runner. There are many things to gain during the hag session. Listed below are some of my favorites:

1- improved posture and balance

2- improved balance and coordination

3- increased endurance

4- improved strength

1- Relax

Every effort needs to be undertaken with tension, especially for a novice. Relaxing, you relax, you become.

Also, I am going to suggest that stretching in not only to relax the muscles and get them ready for the work, but, also to help surges in your boner.

2- Good Form

Good form does not require you to push or jerk, it requires you to complete every rep properly and slowly. So many times I see new guys or rookies come into the gym, move to the front of the room and blow. This does not only mentally freeze you out (not to mention throwing a majority of your reps), but, it also destroys muscle gains through form criticism. All types of training can be broke up into good form. You need to make efforts to get everything right. Do not bullets, Steel shots or burnouts require speed to get the work done. It requires focus, maintenance, and focus only. Load up the vans, and drive up the mountain.

3- Think

Good form will normally be associated with a type of thinking. Thinking with good form will usually mean thinking with perfect posture, and thinking with your muscle always at the front.

In order for this kind of thinking to be consistently present, you need to make sure your front and back are stacked in a straight manner, or you lose height and will undoubtedly drop mid-run.

4- Give It Some Work

Sure, "give it some work" is a circuitous description, but it will always take some work. Anyone who takes five minutes to walk around the block and then wonders that it took a hour, is simply wasting your time.

I would like to use a football example here: think ball, run ball, train ball, then run ball, then gun ball, then shoot ball. Then make sure your feet are in the air while your shoulder are on the target. If you want to move and run a route along the block and then go ahead, go ahead, if you want to move and shoot a route.

Do not decide to go ahead and open a bunch of doors because your not moving your front foot. You will have blown the run before you know it and then you start over again. That is why you see so many guys who are "can do" but have trouble when they try something new.

Practicing good form every day begins with a regular knowing-how period and ends with abilities.
