There is a popular saying that “we are what we eat” and the same can be said in what you and I eat and our food choices. It is vital that you are very careful in what you eat as it greatly affects your health. Not taking the right nutrients can lead to malnutrition, which derives your body of necessary nutrients and further weakens your immune system. In the case of eating a balanced meal, your body would gain more benefits and prevent certain conditions that might occur due to malnutrition.

By eating a healthy meal that contains fruits, vegetables, fiber, proteins, fats and oil, and even carbohydrates can prevent you from having heart diseases, stroke and diabetes. A balanced diet can help you lower cholesterol, improve your body of metabolism and even lose weight. I would also recommend eating healthy and avoid as much as possible eating processed foods like burgers and chips, as they are not healthy and could even cause various illnesses including cancer.

Getting regular exercise

A benefit of exercising could help in preventing stroke, diabetes, heart disease and just to mention a few. It also strengthens your body and further improves your body immunity to fight common ailments. Although regular exercise is not a guarantee on preventing any form of cancer or other disease, it at least helps you to be as healthy and fit as possible.

In being active and getting regular exercise, it would be much easier to keep your very weight under control and improve your stamina in regards to physical and even mental activities. It's important to not overdo it but being considerate and having a moderate intensity each week, as it's much better than being inactive and not moving at all.

Losing weight if you’re overweight

The fact is that many individuals all around the world are overweight. It could be due to poor eating habits, genetic inheritance, low metabolism that cannot quickly burn fat and not exercising well enough to burn the large intake of food. It could be you as a reader might have genuinely tried your very best to lose as much weight as possible to boost your self confidence or stop being bullied.

I would say this, do not give up but continue to persist no matter how tough it might seem. Most people that smoke tend to do so in order to actually reduce their daily stress and tension in their everyday life, but the fact is, choosing this medium is actually harmful to your body and slowly kills you. In fact, smoking weakens your lungs and even makes you more vulnerable and reduces your chances in surviving COVID 19 as it targets the lungs itself. This does not scare you but actually shows the importance in quitting as soon as possible.

Limit how much alcohol you drink

Alcohol is commonly used as a means to have fun when going out either at a pub or outing or even sharing a special time with a loved one. Taking alcohol in moderation or reducing the consumption actually helps your body greatly and be able to function properly. Consuming a very large amount of alcohol would damage your liver and even cause other health problems that affect your throat and even your pancreas. Another fact to keep in mind is that abusing alcohol could lead to major problems in the future such as car wrecks, suicides caused by depression and acting under the influence of alcohol.

Striving to keep healthy and making the right choices is not always going to be easy and would most times be a challenge. Due to demand at work or other personal circumstances you might be going through, it's not always easy to manage your affairs and find time to exercise or keep healthy. One thing I would commend would be to always look at the benefit of being healthy as it would even your life span and improve your body immunity and defenses against common illnesses and diseases.

Aside from the points mentioned above, you could also take further steps that can improve your health and better help you deal with various stress with work, family matters and even your own personal circumstances. Keeping in touch with your family and friends tend to improve your mental and emotional mood by socialising with those who care for you.

Always maintaining a positive attitude and engaging in activities that make you happy would help your own mental state. Being able to better manage your stress would further improve your sleeping habits, always being moody or angry and turning to harmful substances such as drugs and alcohol to relieve stress. Getting about 6 to 8 hours sleep each night would further improve your mental state and help you cope with stress that you might be dealing with.

There are various ways to keep healthy and although it might be difficult at first, you would be able to cope and even thrive if you look at the benefits you can gain from keeping a healthy lifestyle.
