Do You Know The Benefits of Goat Milk?

Goat milk is not something a lot of people think of, because it is not readily available in most places. Places like Wyoming, we can legally sell Raw Milk of any type, so a lot of people sell goat milk.

Here at Pond Farm, goat milk is a huge part of our operation. So if you don't know anything about goat milk, I am here to give you some great information!

Goat Milk is one of the healthiest options for your body. Both internally and externally. One of the biggest advantages of Goat Milk is the lack of lactose in it. That is why it is safe for people with dairy allergies to drink. It also is naturally homogonized, so it is easier for delicate stomachs to digest. Goat milk is hands down the best option, in my opinion. I think coconut milk, almond milk, etc. are a complete waste of money and they are not healthy for you. All of the additives in those milks are harmful to your body. Below is a comparitive chart (not mine I have found this one on Google as the most helpful to understand it).

Great comparative chart

The chart should be a great example of how great goat milk is compared to other milk. That is why it is used in a lot of children formula. It is the closest thing to human milk.

Goat milk is high in medium-chain fatty acids, which are not stored as body fat, so they provide an energy boost. They are linked to prevention of heart disease and treatment of many intestinal conditions, by lowering your cholesterol and increasing levels of good cholesterol.

Skin Care

As for your skin, your skin will absolutely love goat milk! It is so nourishing and gently exfoliates the skin. Fat molecules in the milk help moisturize your skin, while the lactic acid in the milk gently exfoliates the skin. The lactic acid is a Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which breaks down the bonds that hold dead skin together. So you get great exfoliation, without having a bunch of harsh chemicals that can hurt your skin, instead of nourish it. There are many vitamins in goat milk, but it is particualarly high in Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps repair your damaged skin tissue and help your skin stay healthy and thriving. Goat milk also contains thiamine and Vitamin B6, which both promote healthy skin growth and helps maintain it as well.

Since the start of this epidemic, I was washing my hands a lot. I was working for a real estate company and was the accountant. I handled all of the money and was pregnant at the time, so hand washing was a must. Using the soap we had at the office, my hands dried out super fast and started cracking and bleeding. I am not a huge fan of lotion, so I opted to use my goat milk soap. My hands were healed, soft and moisturized within a couple days of using it. I have never had my hands feel so soft!

The cream in the milk helps keep your skin super moisturized by keeping the moisture sealed in your skin. This goes back to the milk being naturally homogonized. Some of the cream does settle on top of the milk after sitting for a day or so, but it doesn't completely separate like cows milk does. It still has most of the cream in the milk. (If you want cream from Goat Milk you have to use a cream separator).

There are many helpful minerals in goat milk that help your skin thrive as well. The magnesium in the milk helps calm irritated skin, and can help reduce the appearance of acne. Selenium acts as almost a natural sunblock, and helps prevent skin damage from excessive time in the sun. (Making sure your goats have the proper minerals in their diet is key for the milk to contain the proper amount of minerals it needs to have).

As far as goats go, the goats love it here. I know a lot of people don't believe in the dairy industry, mainly because of the vidoes they see on Facebook and what PETA puts out there. Please don't believe everything you read online. Follow our farm page and see how a small farm operates. PETA shares a ton of information about the livestock industry that are completely untrue. Maybe I will do an article on that one day too, but that being said: Our livestock is our livelyhood. The last thing we are going to do is be mean to our animals. The animals love being milked, my goats hop right on the stand for me and eat their grain. A few of my goats I don't even have to take to the milk stand, I open the gate and they run to it and jump on it by themselves and wait for me to get there. They get tons of food, love their treats (they get animal crackers and all kinds of goodies), and they love attention. Animals aren't stupid, they wouldn't be excited to see us if they knew they weren't loved and cared for.
