Medical experts dealing with the "Deadly" outbreak

Novelty Coronavirus, as it's correct scientific name, is a new strand of the coronaviruses, a large family of virus that cause a wide range of illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious ilnesses such as the Middle Eastern Respitory Syndrome. Scientists believe that the nCoV (Novelty Coronavirus) came from bats and snakes, a delicacy around some parts of China. The virus then quickly adjusted it's DNA structure to attack humans, primarly affecting the human breathing system in its later stages. Sypmtoms appear as if you've caught the common cold, or the flu, and you can be asymptomatic, meaning you're displaying no symptoms even tho you are carrying the virus, for 14 days, which has caused mass panic in other countries such as the US and Italy. You could be carrying the virus AND infecting others around you without you knowing you are sick. And it's highly contagious, traveling in the suspended particles of salaiva after you sneeze or caugh, which can linger in the room for a couple of hours. But, before you start to panic, and give out to anyone who sneezes near you, the nCov isn't as dangerous as the media seem to make it. Let me explain.

According to a study done by the Worl Health Organization, of all those who are affected with this "deadly" virus, the morality rate only appears to be around 2.3%. In contrast, the fatality figures of the common flu (influenza) currently stands at 7% of all those who are affected by the seasonal flu. And, considering that the virus is spreading slowly across the globe, and with protective meassure put in place by the government in case of an outbreak, the risk of you catching this virus is virtually zero, unless you have been to Wuhan area in China. nCov is only a serious concern in those who are very young, the elderly and the ones who have a weakend immune sytem, due to the virus causing respitory problems. In the majority of individuals like you and me, who are, I hope, healty adults, our immune systems should be strong enough to battle the virus. Sure, you might experience an unplesant few weeks of dry couhg, high fever, chills etc. but you wouldn't die as a result of the virus. But, as with classic media, everything is merly overexaggerated.

nCov compared to the SARS, another deadly infection

And, if after reading this bite size article, if you're still concerned about becoming infected, there are plenty of protective meassures you can take to ensure you stay well. Make sure you wash your hands with warm, soapy water and sing "Happy Birthday" twice before finishing. When sneezing, make sure to cover with your elbow or a tissue, and regualry clean door handles, sinks, toilet covers, and other highly used objects in your household with a disinfectant spray ( I personally use Dettol, it does the job very well). And, of course, if you do feel ill, make sure you visit your doctor and inform them of your symptoms and any countries you have visited in the past 2 weeks.

Wish you all well, and stay calm, stay protected, stay safe!
