Cancer: The Forbidden Cures

Dr. Carmelo Lombardo found himself in a unique position, being an allopathic doctor with cancer, that turned to an alternative cure. He spoke in an interview in 2009 in which he shared his use of Dr. Tullio Simoncini's sodium bicarbonate therapy, the preferred method of the oncologist from Rome, Italy. Dr. Lombardo introduced the solution into his pleural cavity through chemotherapy ports already in place after a previous prostate cancer tumor removal found cancer in his lungs as well. Scans after the treatment came back clean, turning him into a believer.

Despite being a prominent doctor in Italy, several successes with his method, and putting forward his extensively researched fungal theory of cancer, Dr. Tullio Simoncini was disbarred and publicly humiliated over his work with cancer patients. He worked through the lens of cancer as a fungus, a systemic infection, which he successfully treated with a very strong alkali, sodium bicarbonate, a treatment that dates back thousands of years, even mentioned in one of the earlier Indian Vedic healing texts.

Frequently, doctors that shared alternative therapies found themselves in precarious positions with the American Medical Association and similar institutions, through threats to their work, smear campaigns and attempts to shut them down. In the United States, this dates back to when the main pharmaceutical companies first gained control of the teaching system, then gave the AMA power to exclude all other doctors from practicing. They then took over the drug testing process, and heavily influenced the medical publications that reviewed those drugs. And finally they extended their control over the federal entity supposed to verify drug safety and efficacy.

Max Gerson was another doctor that experienced the backlash of the medical institution. He was a German doctor that developed a nutritional therapy combined with detoxification and supplementation that initially healed his migraines. He went on to use with cancer patients both in Germany and in the United States and documented more than 50 cases for his book, A Cancer Therapy. He was banned from publishing in the United States and investigated several times by the AMA.

The AMA maintained that there was no record of his curing cancer; the patients were misdiagnosed, their cases were not terminal, or there was not a single one that reported a cure. He had moved to New York with his family, fleeing Nazi Germany, and continued to cure patients in his clinic, with continued success and testimonials. After his death, his daughter Charlotte Gerson, continued the therapy and to this day has a clinic open in Mexico, as it wasn't allowed in the United States. They have patient files any physician can access should they visit the clinic.

Why all of this dissent against a natural therapy? Firstly, it cannot be patented. Secondly, it involves people taking their health into their own hands. And thirdly, it is vastly less expensive to pursue a natural nutritional treatment, such as the Gerson therapy, or Dr. Simoncini's therapy than it is to pay for chemo and radiation. Chemo drugs are exorbitantly priced, and made by chemical companies, the self-same which spray our soils with toxic pesticides and whose drugs and chemicals are freely approved through these so called authority boards. There is money in the cancer business, why would they promote a cure?
