5 Drinks to Make You Feel Good
For People Who Need an Extra Pick-Me-Up or Have Made a Life Decision to Cut the Soda and Start Drinking Healthy
These are my all time favorite drinks to make myself feel better when I want to feel more energized and awake without my heart overly racing, because I had four shots of espresso. If you are craving the taste of fizzy, sweet drinks, these drinks could be a healthier option to satisfy your sweet tooth.
1. Green Tea
Green tea is perfect for any weather. Add ice when it's summer and drink it warm during the winter. It soothes your throat, gets rid of the thirst, and the caffeine gives you an extra boost, yet calms you down. It's convenient, too! Bring a green tea bag, add hot water, and you're all set for the rest of your day. Green tea is also helpful when you are feeling bloated or constipated.
2. Fresh Juice
As we all know, juices are nutrient packed, therefore it gives our body the nutrients so we can function and feel better throughout the day. There are endless combinations of fresh juice you can buy or make at home. My favorite places to buy juice are Pressed Juicery and BluePrint. However, you could add fruits to your juicer and voila! Investing in a juicer saves so much time, but if you do not have one, you could use a blender too. Blend the fruits with a little liquid of your choice (I like to use coconut water or squeeze a whole lemon), then strain the smoothie mixture through a fine mesh sieve to a bowl or a glass so all the fibers are filtered.
3. Kombucha
Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been hot on the market for a while now, and there is no wonder why. Despite its stinky smell and sour-vinegary taste, it's filled with the good stuff such as beneficial probiotics and antioxidants. It will instantly energize you after your first sip, and it could help boost your immune system too. If you are hesitant about the smell or taste, look for one that has more sugar in it. Here are some Kombucha brands you could try!
4. Hot Chocolate
I know you were waiting for something like this to come—the perfect cozy drink that we all love. Hot cocoa somehow makes us want to snuggle up in bed and makes us feel like nothing at the moment is a mess. It is filled with so many antioxidants and nutrients that help with blood flow. A natural, less or no sugar cocoa powder is best for your health benefits. The Starbucks Double Chocolate is my all time favorite hot cocoa mix. It's rich and velvety, slightly bitter, with a bit of sweet note to it.
5. Water or Infused Water
Who would have guessed that water would be in the list? Water is the number one O.G. drink, and no one doubts the benefits of water. However, water might not satisfy your cravings for something more flavorful and sweet, so try giving fruit-infused water a go. These are so easy to do, and you could switch up the ingredients every time. Take a glass of water, cut up some fruits, and put them in the water. I love the combination of lemon and mint leaves, or sometimes I would add a cucumber and strawberries!
Always try to opt for a healthy, beneficial drink when you can. Try these drinks to cut your cravings for soda and sugary drinks. Remember, the reason why you are craving sweet drinks so often is because you are dehydrated. Drink lots of healthy liquids and you will feel a good difference in your body and skin.
