If you want to dodge this deadly virus

1. Wash your hands

This seems like an obvious thing to do to prevent the spread of diseases, including the corona virus but sadly many people either don’t do it correctly or skip this all together.

The CDC recommends washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds in order for it to be effective. A good rule of thumb is saying the ABC’s out loud for a total of 2 times while lathering the hands with soap, and rinsing off the soap once you get to z the second time around. You should wash your hands as often as possible, but according to the CDC there are certain times washing your hands is an absolute must. These include, before and after preparing or eating food, before and after using the toilet, after handling garbage, after touching pets or animals, after blowing your nose or sneezing, before and after treating cuts and wounds to name a few.

2. Avoid crowded spaces

Avoiding crowded spaces can help protect you from the coronavirus because wherever there are people there are germs and the easiest way to spread germs is through a crowded space of people. Places like subway stations, malls, amusement parks or any other place where large amounts of people gather in an enclosed space.

3. Take care of Your immune system

A very simple thing you should be doing regardless of the possible corona virus pandemic, is taking care of your immune system. That means eating a balanced nourishing diet with all the nutrients your specific body requires; that includes all vitamins, minerals, pre & probiotics as well as any other supplements you choose to take outside of your food sources. You should also make sure to keep yourself well rested, giving your body at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Stress is a huge part of your immune health, it actually lowers your immune system and makes you susceptible to a plethora of illnesses, including the corona virus so make sure to deal with stress in a healthy manner so as not to let it affect your immune system.

4. Avoid eating out

Let’s face it, we really have no idea what goes into the meals we eat when dining out. But far worse than that is the fact that we don’t know who is preparing that meal. Did they wash their hands before touching our food? Are they ill? What were they doing right before making our sandwich? Were they on the toilet with a bad case of diarrhea? And did they wash their hands like we’d expect someone to do after using the bathroom; or were they too busy updating their instagram story and simply forgot. Do they have a cold or a bad cough? Maybe a runny nose or recent case of conjunctivitis? Maybe they were just diagnosed with herpes or couldn’t control the intense urge to scratch their ass, not like anyone would notice.

Whatever it is that food handler may have, could very well now be yours too... if they failed to wash their hands and take the necessary precautions to make sure nothing is contaminated.

Just look up sizzler or chipotle and there you have it, dozens of people who became severely ill and even died all due to the contamination of food products caused by an absent minded food handler who could have easily prevented the incident had they followed the proper procedures.

We take a risk every time we sit down at a restaurant and rely on others to prepare and serve us our food. With something as serious and deadly as the corona virus spreading worldwide, this is an extra precaution we can take to ensure our health.

These are the very basic measures everyone should be taking in order to stay healthy and get through the corona virus pandemic rapidly sweeping through every country. We must all take the necessary precautions to contain the virus before it can spread any further and cause more damage.
