Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is crucial for any business that wants to succeed online. SEO basically refers to all the efforts taken to make a site rank higher in search engine result pages (SERPs). SERPs are extremely competitive, and over 90% of indexed pages get no web traffic from Google. This is generally because users are unwilling to go far down the search result pages, and many users will simply click on the first result. Since Google is the most widely used search engine, ranking with it is critical to getting organic traffic. This can be difficult, especially since the web grows by millions, if not billions, of pages each day. While the numbers may seem grim, there are several things you can do to boost your rankings and start earning more traffic.

Check Your Domain Authority

If you want to get a general idea of how well your current site is likely to rank in SERPs, you can look to your domain authority (DA). This is a metric developed by Moz that scores your site from one to 100 based on its ranking ability. SERPs are incredibly complex, and results are based on a wide variety of factors that DA score attempts to simulate. As such, DA is based on an aggregate of factors which makes it significantly easier to improve on a lower score than a higher one. It's important to keep in mind that DA simply simulates SERPs and is not considered an actual Google ranking factor.

You should also be wary that DA is not an absolute measure of site quality. It should be taken as a comparative score between your site and your direct competitors. If you want to rank higher in SERPs, you'll need to outperform others in your niche.

Optimize Based on Intent

Keyword research has always been an important concept for SEO, and this likely won't change, at least not entirely. Keywords are the words and phrases users are likely going to search when looking for solutions to their problems. You need to optimize your site's content so that it uses these keywords, thus making your site more likely to rank.

With the new Google BERT update, the search algorithm can better process natural language, meaning it's become more important for you to optimize based on user intent. BERT analyzes web pages for context rather than simply looking for keywords. This means your content will need to actually address your target audience's concerns instead of just including relevant keywords.

Work on Linkbuilding

Linkbuilding has been the most crucial SEO element since the beginning, and it's still an absolute must today. High-quality backlinks are still vital for page and domain authority, and they're still among the top three ranking factors. Backlinks are also called "inbound links," and they're made when one site creates a link to another. A high-quality backlink is when an authoritative site creates a link to your own site or content. This basically makes your content seem more credible by association, and building a strong portfolio of these links can drastically improve your rankings.

There are several ways you can go about building good backlinks. You can pitch guest articles, videos, or other content to high authority sites in your niche for starters. You can also offer your own expertise as a resource or create images/videos to secure link credits. While this is an older method, it can be useful to get your site listed on industry-relevant directories as well.

If you're having trouble building links yourself, you can always try services like WhiteLabelSEOReseller. This is a service that creates content and link placements and lets your present them under your own brand. In other words, the hard work of link building is done for you. There are several plans you can choose from, all of which use white label methods, meaning methods that are approved by search engines that will help your site long term.
