The world as we know it has come to a screeching halt. Our normal has changed from the day to day hustle of work, school, shopping, and events to days spent pacing our living rooms. But it doesn't have to be all bad, right? In today's society, we're expected to be constantly busy. It's our lifestyle. But now we're being told to stay home and wait out this situation, for public safety and for our own. So let's take advantage of the situation and use this time for ourselves, even if that means just lounging around and enjoying some newfound downtime. Here are some things you can do to keep yourself entertained during isolation!

Binge Some TV

While the idea of cleaning and organizing your house sounds great, don't worry about that too much! You're free to enjoy this time to relax, and that means you're free to sit in your pajamas all day and binge watch Tiger King on Netflix. Plus, there are a lot of streaming services out there right now offering free trials. On the flip side of that, internet and electricity providers are offering some ways to save money. You can compare energy providers with iSelect, as well. So go ahead and start that Marvel movie marathon you've been dying to watch.

Take a Virtual Tour

Since we're practicing social distancing for our public safety, that means most of the world's gathering places have shut down, including museums. But you can still experience a lot of them through virtual tours, like the Louvre in Paris, France. They have tours of most of their exhibits, including the Egyptian antiquities collection.

Further Your Education

Just because you're not able to go anywhere doesn't mean you can't further your education. There are so many online programs out there that offer degree programs. You can work towards a bachelor's degree from the comfort of your home. Why not pursue something you truly enjoy and get your online criminal justice degree?

Escape with Games

You can now meet up with your friends in new ways, including virtual worlds in video games. That way, you can hang out together and still practice safe social distancing. With Nintendo's latest game release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, people all over the world are gathering on virtual islands. In the game, they're celebrating anything from birthdays to weddings that have been canceled in the real world. There are other games where you can virtually gather with your friends, too, such as Minecraft or Roblox.

Exercise

It doesn't sound great at first, but a good workout session can boost your mood and raise your endorphins. It's been scientifically proven that exercise can fight off depression. Get off the couch and hit up YouTube for tons of free workout videos. National gyms that have shut down due to the quarantine have free online classes, too. If you're an Amazon Prime member, there's a whole library of videos you can search through. Maybe you'll find a new love for yoga!

Discover a New Podcast

Podcasts, audio programs that you can listen to through your phone or any smart device, are a great way to become smarter on any subject. There's something for everyone, too. You can enjoy podcasts about true crime and crime scene investigation, history, mythology, or even the paranormal. You'll be amazed at how quickly the time flies when you're listening to an interesting story.

This quarantine can get old quickly. We're all ready and waiting for the world to return to some kind of normalcy. However, we understand that this is in place for public safety. You can keep yourself, and your family, safe at home with some of these options! So watch a little TV, pursue your online degree, or get up and exercise.
