Owners of iPhones appear to be totally fixated on the condition of their batteries. There are numerous YouTube videos and articles that show owners how to maintain an iPhone battery at 100% health, so I've lost track of how often I've been asked this question.

If you're one of those individuals, I have some bad news for you.

You can only do one action to maintain 100% battery life on your iPhone.

Put down the iPhone.

Yes, stopping use and charging your iPhone is the only way to maintain the battery at 100%.

It's a comforting figure, but it doesn't actually provide you with any useful information regarding the condition of your battery. After nearly a year of frequent use, my iPhone reports that my battery is still at 96% of its original capacity.

I can assure you that this figure is incorrect after 297 recharge cycles.

I recommend perusing this more in-depth article on iPhone batteries for information on how to get these numbers out of iOS if you want to know how many recharge cycles your iPhone has gone through.

Apple estimates that the battery will retain 80% of its capacity after 500 full charge sessions.

This indicates that my iPhone has completed more than half of those 500 charge sessions, yet only 4% battery wear is being noted. The figure is meaningless nonsense, as I already said. The physics-related rules are unchangeable. The bottom line is that your battery will lose roughly 1 percentage point for every 25 cycles as part of the regular battery wear process. My iPhone will have lost about 12% of its vitality after 300 recharges.

Why then does it only display 4%? because the real battery capacity of your iPhone is higher than what Apple claims.

Here is information on how to determine the battery size of your iPhone. Before the capacity drops below Apple's recommended capacity, the battery doesn't begin to exhibit signs of wear.

Because of this, the "battery health" does not drop below 100% for many weeks or months at a time.

So, aside from using your battery less, is there anything else you can do to keep it in good condition? No. This is typical battery ageing.

There is no surefire way to keep your iPhone's battery health at 100% over the long term, as batteries naturally degrade over time. However, there are several tips you can follow to help maximize your battery's lifespan and keep it in good health:

Avoid exposing your iPhone to extreme temperatures: Both hot and cold temperatures can damage your battery over time, so try to keep your iPhone in a comfortable temperature range (between 32° and 95° Fahrenheit, or 0° and 35° Celsius).

Don't let your iPhone's battery drain completely: It's best to keep your iPhone's battery level between 20% and 80% whenever possible. Try to avoid letting it drain completely, as this can cause damage to the battery.

Use Apple-approved chargers and cables: Using third-party chargers and cables can cause damage to your battery over time, so it's best to stick with official Apple accessories.

Avoid fast charging whenever possible: Fast charging can heat up your iPhone's battery and cause damage over time, so it's best to use slow charging whenever possible.

Turn off unnecessary features: Features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and location services can drain your battery, so it's best to turn them off when you're not using them.

Update your iPhone's software regularly: Apple often releases software updates that include battery optimizations, so make sure to keep your iPhone up to date.

By following these tips, you can help maximize your iPhone's battery lifespan and keep it in good health for as long as possible
