The way our bodies, particularly our minds and mental frameworks, are built is absolutely fascinating and somewhat difficult to comprehend. Understanding that a small organ can have its own pacing, patterns, and tendencies can be fascinating. It is highly self-aware, but we are completely unaware of the many things that happen autonomously around us. We have no power over the enormous waves of thoughts that emerge and fade over time in our minds. Matter of fact, in 2005, the National Science Foundation published an article summing up and explaining a study on daily human thoughts. According to this study, the average person has between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts per day. Absolutely fantastic. Eighty percent of those multitudes of thoughts were negative, and ninety percent were the same repeated sentiments as the day before.

In a metaphorical sense, we can safely say that our minds are prone to repeating the same melodies over time. These melodies, unfortunately, are about heartbreak and melancholy. This is supported by a fascinating study conducted by Leahy at Cornell University in 2005. Furthermore, of the 15% of worries that did occur, 79 percent of the participants revealed that they could manage the struggles stronger than anticipated, or that the problem taught them a valuable learning experience. It's actually quite alarming to realize that these unfounded concerns are significant contributors to the pressure, stress, and fatigue that our physical and mental bodies must deal with.

What impact our thoughts have on us

To fully comprehend how our minds perceive things, we must first examine the three factors that play a major role: thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. To begin with, our thoughts are a series of data points that our brain receives and transmits. The central authority for quantified knowledge is this small organ inside our heads. Our brain has the capacity to decide which knowledge is relevant and, as a result, what should be the priority of our mental attention. Some of these thoughts can easily become beliefs, which can have a substantial effect on our feelings.

Our emotions and feelings are also influenced by our thoughts. Feelings, on the other hand, are our emotional reactions to the thoughts and behaviors we encounter. They serve as indicators of our emotional attachment to a particular situation. They can come from our personal experiences and viewpoints. As a result, it has the potential to drastically alter our behavior. Finally, behaviors are the doings that are formed or generated as a result of our emotions and thoughts.

Our actions are always a reaction to anything or thoughts that led us to believe it was the ideal choice to make at the time. To summarize, we can say that they are extremely intertwined. When we consider the power of our thoughts, we can see how they have a huge impact on the rest of our lives. Our collective views and perceptions influence how we feel and react appropriately to any given circumstance, from provoking emotions to eliciting behavioral responses.

How to generate thoughts that bring us benefits and eliminate negative thoughts?

Try increase self-awareness

In the vast majority of cases, we perform at an incapacitated level, simply undergoing the process of our daily lives. However, by practicing mindfulness, we can live fully immersed, awake, and aware of our lives in the present moment that occurs right now. We can carve out time to disconnect from our daily routine and reconnect with our spiritual center, which will lead us to the internal shelter of our oneness, which is our true self. It's not a bad idea to take some time to connect with and recognize our true identities. Aiming for self-improvement is also not a bad idea, as is helping ourselves see the significance of this priceless gift of life.

Maintain a sense of neutrality while understanding the situation

We recognize that self-improvement and remaining present at this point in time can be difficult, especially when confronted with something nerve-wracking and unknown. Negative emotions like anger and insecurity can slow us down in the mind's race. However, if we allow ourselves to be open to difficult moments with acceptance, our hardships can begin to be solved. By simply reminding ourselves of the previous mental battles we won and our ability to handle things, we can finally end the continuous flow of negative thoughts. Also, we can redirect our vision and navigate with neutrality since we're no longer constricted or just reacting but allowing things to just be. Rather than trying to avoid the difficulties that lie ahead, being open to them allows us to relax into them, gain knowledge from them, and explore what strikes a chord for us.

Stop your brain from being overworked

You are not a robot. You are not powered by batteries or plugged into a wall outlet, and will simply recharge on its own. Our brains, like our legs when we walk for hours on end, can become tired. Yes, our minds thrive on action and distraction, but it's also worth remembering that it's okay to be quiet occasionally. As a result, we may have difficulty distinguishing between relevant and positive thoughts and feelings, causing us to focus more on the negatives. Breathing can be used as a form of meditation because it is known to help us communicate with our whole selves. It's the same feeling we get when we go for a walk in the woods and appreciate the magnificence of nature. It could also be when we sit quietly with our coffee and enjoy the silence. Self-improvement doesn't have always have to be like shopping or luxury spas, it can be achieved through simple things too!

Finally, with all of our suggestions, we know you can filter out the negatives and focus on the positives from the 60,000 thoughts we generate every day. Positive thinking, of course, does not imply that you overlook life's less delightful circumstances. Positive thinking simply means approaching unpleasant situations in a much more optimistic and constructive manner. You expect the best, not the worst, to happen.
