Thousands of new startups are launched every month. However, of those, only a few manage to survive well past their founding. There can be many reasons for these failures. However, in many cases, the simple inability to attract the right amount of traffic was at the core of the problem. With that in mind, below are several strategies you can use to drive more traffic to your new startup.

Utilize Content Marketing in a Smart Way

Driving traffic to the website of a startup business is not an easy task. Much of the traffic you want may be going to competitors that are well established and have had successful websites for multiple decades. To reach into those numbers and obtain some traffic for your own company, you’re going to need to offer internet users something useful in regards to content marketing. Create marketing materials in terms of blog-articles, videos, listicles and more that actually provide concrete value. Don’t simply try to copy what is already out there. Instead, create content that covers things ignored by your competitors that will actually create interest.

Utilize SMS Marketing

You should also be considering as many different marketing platforms as possible to get your message out. One that you should certainly be using is SMS. SMS, or course, refers to text messaging. SMS stands for short message service. Consider utilizing an SMS marketing service to help drive traffic to your website and convert leads into paying customers. SMS, in many cases, may be even more successful than email marketing in certain ways. While a good portion of email may be ignored as “spam,” this is less so the case for text messages. Make sure to craft your text messages in a way that will rely on a consumer’s preferences, purchases and past behaviors to help increase your success rate.

Partner with the Right Influencers

As we all know, social media plays a huge part in helping to market products and businesses in the modern age. However, starting from scratch in social media as a new startup can be rather difficult. It can take months and even years to build a decent social media following. The obvious solution is to enlist someone who already has a substantial following. Choose an influencer that routinely talks about products related to your industry. If you’re a tech startup, a tech influencer on YouTube, for example, may be an excellent choice. If feasible, make sure that influencer shares links directly to your website to help enhance the traffic you will receive from this exposure. Having their social media accounts directly re-post posts from your account can also help you obtain some of the same followers.

Translate Content

Unless your startup business is specifically targeted to only one geographic location that speaks a single language, you really shouldn’t be limiting your reach in regards to only making your website and marketing materials available in a single language. Making your website, marketing and business available to those that speak Spanish, French, German, Mandarin and more can help open up your startup to business from parts of the world you would not be able to reach otherwise.

Invest in SEO

In regards to traffic, organic search engine traffic can do a lot for your bottom line. As such, you should do everything you can to help direct search engine users to your startup’s website. Doing so is easier said than done. Google, for one, has made drastic and radical changes to its search engine algorithms. How Google ranked websites only two years ago is not how it ranks websites today. Google launched three core updates to its algorithm in 2021 alone. Managing SEO must be an ongoing process. Doing so can also help you discover what works and what does not. You’ll be able to make adjustments as needed to keep your traffic coming in.

Conclusion

Overall, properly marketing a startup is not easy. You are a new company with a new idea, and much of the public may be skeptical. Try to get your message out there to as many people as possible. Use tools like SEO, content marketing and social media influencers to reach your target demographics. If you put in the proper effort, you’ll be much more likely to succeed.
