It's Christmas Time

As the holidays are approaching, we are all trying to make our homes as cozy and festive as possible.

Your home should be your oasis in every sense, and Christmas is a perfect opportunity to take it to the next level.

The following tips will help you decorate your home in a unique and memorable way.

1. Use real foliage

It doesn't matter if you use real or fake foliage - your tree will look rich and unique if you fill it out with additional branches. Eucalyptus leaves look lovely on the tree, adding a bit of unexpected twist to it. In case you have a fake tree, the eucalyptus branch will also give off a pleasant smell instead of the smell of a real tree. As soon as the branch dies, you can replace it with another one and make sure the tree looks fresh throughout the whole season.

2. Oversized, bright-colored garlands

Garlands are one of the main representatives of the winter festivities but this year, forget about the usual greenery and tinsel. Take it to another level by using oversized garlands in bright, intensive colors like red, blue, yellow and orange - they will instantly brighten up the whole room and add fun to the mantel.

3. Share the spirit throughout the home

Holiday spirit should not be obvious only in the living room. The real Christmas oasis is a home where you get reminders of the holiday season in every single room. Share the spirit by adding decorative items in the hall, the kitchen and even in the bathroom. For example, you can add ornaments in vases and bowls and then place them around your home.

4. Chunky-knit tree skirts

Is it really winter if you're not wearing a warm, woolen sweater? Wool is material you connect to winter, coziness, and warmth, so add it whenever you can. That includes placing a chunky-knit tree skirt under the Christmas tree. It will warm up the ambiance and make the tree look tucked in. In case you have a real tree, think twice - you'll probably have difficulties picking needles out of the tree skirt.

5. Place candles on the tree

Romantic, magical, and elegant - those are the words that best describe the atmosphere created by hanging candles onto the tree. Nothing beats old-fashioned Christmas decorations. Just make sure there's no fire hazard - but candle strings lights or make the paper version on your own.

6. Invest in the entryway

The entrance into your home tells people outside that your home is welcoming and ready for the festivities of the winter season. In other words, you need to pay special attention to it because it makes the first impression. You need pops of greenery and warm lights to frame the door.

Use two tricks to make sure your winter bills stay as low as possible - avoid lights that wrap the entire house and make sure the door and the windows are sealed before you decorate them - companies like Access Hardware offer various hinges and door seals in case you need some parts changed.

When everything is set, add the greenery - don't put just one wreath, but try two or even three, just make sure they all match. You could put them in a row vertically, and double them in case you have double doors.

7. Windows decorations

Just like the doors, windows have to be inviting and charming. String lights framing the windows, hanging wreaths and snowflakes on the glass part - they will decorate the windows and make your home look cozy. Just make sure you use LED string lights to reduce the electricity bill.

8. Metallic finishes

Metallic finishes are great for showing off the festive spirit without going too far. They particularly work if you already have items with metallic finishes inside your home. Whether it's the candle holders, tea lights or bowls, the metallic finish will add the holiday sparkle and still manage to keep the elegance.

9. Use appropriate pillows

Swap out your throw pillows, or at least change the covers, to show the change in the seasons. Don't forget to add the matching blankets, too. It requires minimal effort, so it's best if you go with faux fur - it's extra cozy and lush.

10. Boho spirit

Boho elements have been a huge hype for several years, and it's getting bigger. Boho style includes a huge splash of colors and eclectic items. It also puts accent onto handmade items, so if you enjoy DIY projects or are skillful at knitting or any other similar hobby, this is the style for you.

Final words

Your Christmas oasis needs, above all things, to reflect the warmth and love between the family members. It should be cozy, playful and warm. Whatever the style you choose for it, spread it throughout your whole home.
