Regardless of if you plan to move into your RV full-time, or if you are planning an epic vacation, making your space feel like home is a great way to enjoy every aspect of the experience. While this may seem like a daunting task, it doesn’t have to be. Use the tips and information here to transform your RV to make it comfortable and relaxing, regardless of where you may venture.

Replace the Mattress or Add a Mattress Topper

Have you ever laid on the mattress that comes with your RV – even the really luxurious ones? If you have, you know the support is lacking, and there are likely bumps and other issues that make it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Now is the time to invest in a custom RV mattress. While you can take the mattress from your home’s bed, this isn’t always an option, especially if the beds aren’t the same size. Another option, besides buying an all new mattress, is to invest in a topper. Weigh all the options and your budget to figure out what option is right for you.

If You Have Kids, Allow Them to Decorate Their Space

While this is probably a no-brainer for most parents, but you need to allow your children to personalize their area in the RV. This provides them with something familiar from home, which is important. After all, as much as you love RV life, for your kids, there may be some hard days ahead. From being in a new and unfamiliar location day after day to mishaps on the road, there’s no question that life in an RV can be quite overwhelming.

Purchase an Ottoman for the Living Space

Besides the mattress consideration, another must-have for RV life is a storage ottoman. This can help make the RV feel more home-like and give you somewhere to store all your must-have items. You know that storage is often limited in an RV, so having somewhere else to put your personal items is a must. Not only is this practical for storage purposes, but it can also help the interior of your RV look and feel more like home. Also, if you don’t have reclining couches, it’s a great place to put your feet up and relax.

Add a Rug, Blankets, and Throw Pillows to the Space

By adding a few throw pillows on the beds and couch you can make the space more comfortable. Another good idea is to add a rug. You can use this to cover your ottoman or to go under it to add a bit of color and fun to the living area.

Hang Up Wall Décor

There is nothing that’s going to make an RV feel more like home than hanging up personal pictures, posters, and other décor items. You don’t have to go overboard, but a few well-placed items can help to make your RV feel like home.

Use an Oil Diffuser

Something that most people will agree is that there are certain things that smell like home. It’s also not unusual for an RV to begin to smell bad – especially since you have more than a few people living in a small, enclosed area. Just opening the door, windows, and adding an oil diffuser can make a huge difference and help you eliminate any lingering smells.

Bring Along Home Comforts

Slippers, special coffee cups, a stuffed animal – bring along things that are comforting to you and your kids. There’s nothing better than being able to curl up in the evening with your favorite slippers and sip a cup of coffee from your favorite mug.

When it comes to making your RV feel like home, there are more than a few things to consider. The tips here will help you get started but be sure to add your own special items. By doing this, life on the road is going to be more comfortable and more enjoyable for everyone.
