I've been a hunter in the Rocky Mountains for over 10 years. Just like you, I had to fall under threat for the lack I used to have in my hunting gear list. Because I was a new hunter and I barely knew what things I genuinely needed to take to the rockies.

Hunting in the wild and mountains without proper safety is like skating on thin ice. You can fall under any situations where you'd need proper tools to fight with and survive.

So it's very essential to emphasize the gear list.

After many years I could tune in the gear list that didn’t lack a must have thing. The perfect hunting gear list depends on the conditions, seasons and the type of hunting you prefer. But there are a few mandatory things which you have to take each time.

Hunting Gear List

There are plenty of brands available who supply hunting gear equipment. Some of them are affordable while the others are high end. You will find some really good gear at a reasonable price. Let's take a look at the must have gear list.

Backpack: Backpack is the one of the things that can make you feel happy or terrible at the same time. A lightweight backpack will make your journey happy and comfortable. But a heavy one will add more weight on your shoulders and make it miserable to walk miles on wild Terrain. You should expect to spend more on this than any other gear. Remember, you get what you pay for.

So make sure you're buying a spacious, light, padded and a backpack that is designed with a waist belt. These types of backpacks are the best for hunters.

Boots: There's nothing to explain how important it is to choose your hunting boots. Hunters spend most of their time in wild terrain and rocky mountains.

A good pair of boots can help their feet stay painless and free of injuries. If you go with a cheap pair of boots, you'll be helpless and have to put an end to your hunting session quicker.

This is another gear that will make you spend more than any other gear. It's wise to buy a good quality expensive pair of boots so it will provide you comfort as well as durability.

Personal Water Filter: Personal water filter will solve your problem for drinking water. It can filter water fast so you can drink lake or river water by purifying them. It kills waterborne bacteria and makes the water safe for drinking. Make sure to buy a water filter from a trusted shop.

Decoys: Decoys help you get more success in hunting. You can coax your prey to get in your bow range with the help of a good decoy. But using it at the wrong time can make things worse. So make sure your timing is perfect. Not trying decoys can be one of the biggest mistakes for a hunter. Start utilizing decoys and see how magical it is.

Binoculars: Binoculars are one of the must haves on the gear list. It helps you to keep your eyes on the prey from much distance. Be it birding or deer hunting, you'll need different binoculars. A good binocular can give you a clear view of distant places which will help you a lot in hunting.

Headlamps: This is a thing that most of the hunters forget to take in hunting. A Headlamps for Hunting will keep your both hands free and show you your way at night.

Remember to buy headlamps that are waterproof and consider buying headlamps with red or green lights. Just like any other thing, headlamps are available both at affordable and high prices.

You can take a look at The best headlamps these are perfect hunting headlamps.

Range Finder: This is a device used in measuring the target distance. This will help you to shoot your target more accurately.

Keep in mind that different kinds of hunting require different range finders as some allow long distance while the others allow short distances. Choose your range finder according to your hunting type.

Rifle Scopes: A rifle scope is very important in hunting. It helps you in shooting accurately. Sometimes you should think of not taking it along. Because if you are going in a big dense forest, you won't need a scope. It'll rather make you bear the extra weight of a scope. So determine what type of place you are going on for hunting.

Map: It's very easy to access maps anytime with the help of a smartphone. But you can run out of your phone's battery and you're in a deep jungle then how will you get back to your home? That's why I keep a paper map in a ziplock bag. There's nothing wrong in having a backup.

Battery: In a day trip, you hardly run out of your phone's battery. You don't need to use your phone during hunting so your phone battery will last a lot longer. Still then I keep an extra battery on my backpack. You can also keep flight mode activated most of the time that will prevent your phone battery from running out fast.

Weapons: Take a rifle, bow or knife whichever you prefer while hunting. If you choose a rifle or a bow, you still need to keep a knife with you. Keep a few extra bullets in your backpack. If you engage in archery then don't forget to take other tools like hex wrenches or rest padding stuff.

Personal Accessories: Sunglass, sunscreen, toilet tissue, sanitizer, perfume, wet wipes, chapsticks or some other personal stuff should be taken into the forest. These things are really necessary in providing you comfort. You can also take a lightweight raincoat with you because you can't detect the weather in fall.

Conclusion: I wrote the gear list with my must have items. You can add or subtract anything that you need or don't need. These are my top essentials in every season and conditions.
