You can choose your life….

What does that mean, you can choose your life? Well, it means that you, by the choices you make can create a better life. This is not about affirmations, or lists, or thinking yourself into change. This is about making small tweaks to your current life that will help you declutter everything and open your mind to a simpler way of processing and manifesting. Manifesting is a big word that simply means allowing yourself to enhance the creative process that is your life.

All of our lives, our actions, reactions, prejudices, loves and dislikes are based on our history, what we were taught as children and how we have interpreted those things are the basis of who we are and how we act. Getting out of that history and learning to see from a new perspective is what this is all about.

Change is never easy, so I’ve put together a step by step mini guide to helping you on your way. If you are looking to make big changes in your life, it’s best to start small and work upwards

Today is Step One.

CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET.

What? Clean out my closet, this is about choosing my life, changing my history, realigning my thoughts, how the heck does this help?

Well, cleaning your closet is a small step to releasing the old, your history. Your closet is a good representation of your life, is it cluttered, messy, overstuffed, smelly? How many pairs of shoes do you have? Do you still have your prom dress from 1991, how about that leather jacket from 2002? It’s time to take these things and put them where they belong, in the past. It’s harder than you think, the memories that will be awakened may be overwhelming and it will be hard to discard. Remember the general rule of thumb is this, if you haven’t worn it or used it in the past 6 months it needs to go. There will be things you think you just can’t part with but I tell you this, this is about releasing the old and forming the new, these things are your past, they DO NOT reflect the new you. You are clean and fresh and open to new and exciting things. Don’t let these OLD things hold you back. You have to get rid of them, not box them and store for later, they need to leave the premises. You can sell them or donate them; it doesn’t matter just make sure they are gone. Once you get your old stuff gone you will feel a weight you didn’t know you were carrying lift. It’s very freeing to throw the old, outdated stuff away. Your closet should be empty, give it a clean, wipe the shelves, give it a spritz of air freshener. Return the items that you have kept, isn’t it beautiful? So tidy and uncluttered, feel that sense of accomplishment! The trick is to keep it that way. Before you add anything new you must discard something old.

Now, let’s apply your closet cleaning techniques to your life. Take time and look at what is cluttering up your life, any emotions or feelings that are negative or outdated, any thoughts or actions that are judgmental or derogatory? Are you messy, overstuffed or smelly, are there things about yourself you don’t like? Look closely at these things and then discard them, choose to be better, chose to be less critical, choose to be more loving and forgiving. It’s your choice, you are creating your life with your thoughts and choices, choose to be happy, choose that others are happy too. It’s up to you, you can start a new cycle of positive actions and reactions. Break the paradigm and start the process of choosing your life.
