Before welding, none of these stainless steel grades has to be pre-heated or post-heated.

Corrosion Resistance of Duplex and Super Duplex Steels

Both grades have better corrosion resistance than typical austenitic stainless steels, but the super duplex has even better corrosion resistance. Because it is resistant to most general corrosive components, weak acids, and oxidizing agents, the super duplex can be utilized in chemical, marine, seawater, and food-grade applications. The corrosion resistance qualities of a super duplex vary according to the grade.

When compared, however, super duplex stainless steel outperforms duplex stainless steel in terms of corrosion resistance. Super duplex stainless steel, on the other hand, can tolerate corrosive environments for a longer period of time than duplex stainless steel.

The Cost of Duplex vs Super Duplex Steels

The super duplex material is more expensive than regular duplex grades because it contains more chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. Standard and super duplex materials come in a variety of grades. The material composition varies depending on the type. The prices vary depending on the material composition. Super duplex is generally more expensive than ordinary duplex grades. This is due to the fact that super duplex stainless steel has more nickel than duplex stainless steel. Because nickel is the most expensive ingredient in stainless steels, it's only natural that super duplex would be more costly.
