7 ESSENTIAL SELF CARE TIPS FOR QUARANTINE
Our personal daily routines have been affected ,and some them have being overwhelmed during this world changing dramatically in front of our eyes because of corona virus .So today I wanted to talk about a few very important ways you can take care of yourself during this scary and stressful time.
1. UNPLUG
You might not feel like its affecting you by, consuming negative information about the pandemic all day can have a serious effect on your mental health. It is ok to unplug and take care of yourself. And I mean unplug from listening information about it on our tv, Instagram, messaging with your friends about it, listening to radio about it. It’s way too much for us. Give your time at least one hour away from your phone or anything that will bring you to the information. Maybe you will go for a walk, or read your book, listen to a proctive podcast or even listen to audio books from amazon. For me ,i have being taking many classes on skillshares because i want to better my self with photographin skills ,editing my videos as i want to start a new channel on you tube call ALL ABOUT CATHERINE MELANIN. I have being watching alot of youtube on training without equipments too as i train at home since no gyms are open .
2. MOVE YOUR BODY
Being stuck in the house all day, it’s hard to feel motivated, or even find ways to get out and move your body. However, it’s so important to get a change of scenery and still get excersize. Try to incorportate a walk, whether in nature or just around your house. If that doesn’t feel attainable, do an at home workout so you are still moving your body! I have being trying to walk at least 5 km aday and in the forest and this helps me alot as to stop thinking about everything and listen to the birds singing in the forest or water running doen the river. Those sounds just relaxes your mind
3.MORNING AND NIGHT ROUTINE
Having a good routine structures your days, and insures you include productive and healthy habits in your day. And most importantly, they provide consistency and ground your days which is essential in this time of instability and not knowing what’s next. Make sure to include LOTS of self care into your routines. like me ,i tend to take care of my skin more than normal days as i have the time .Some of my habids during my morning and night are
- journaling
- reading
- skincare routine
- listening to music/audiobook/podcast
- watching a TV show you love
- having a warm cup of tea
- drinking lots of water
- unpluggingcleaning up your space-affirmations
4.HOBBIES
Use the extra time and energy you have on hobbies that make you feel good and relieve stress. I have being baking alot with my daughters and trying different activities like drawing. You can also painting/any kind, gardening writing playing an instrument. They are many things you can do by learning them and f you have intrest in them
5.STAY IN TOUCH
With social distancing, it’s hard to feel connected to your friends and community, so find ways to stay in touch with your friends and loved ones you are not with. This will make you feel less lonely and isolated, and bring more joy to your days! Write letters, face time, text, Netflix Party (chrome extension to watch Netflix with your friends), zoom ,skype etc. In this digital era, there are tons of ways you can stay in touch with friends, so utilize that! However, it is still so so so important to practice self isolation and social distancing (don’t go and see your friends)! I talk to mu mum who is in Kenya every day by whatsup,We do vidio calls .At least everyday i try to check my friends by either sending them a nice messege to keep them smile
6.LIVE SLOWER
Take time in your day to indulge in those little moments, like showering for a little longer, doing a face mask.I love steaming my face norways and i do it almost everyday. It envelopes my skin with a soothing warm mist that feels like pure spa heaven that i wish i can just go but .This little moments can feel really good to dwell on in these fast paced, overwhelming times.
JOURNAL
Getting your thoughts out on paper will be extremely stress relieving and make you feel much more clear. Plus, those entries will be super cool to read later. You can journal about what is stressing you, or you can journal more positively about the situation.
