Definitely, many people consider their home as the best place to be. It is where we feel much more comfortable to be around and content with the others in the family than any other place in the world. However, such a sweet home is not just any home. A home becomes a better place to live in if it is properly maintained and taken care of. To be exact, a well sanitized home serves a great dwelling not only because it looks pleasing to the eyes but also because it positively contributes to good health.

While home cleaning particularly on a regular basis is not everyone’s cup of tea, still we need to practice good sanitation at home if you we want to live longer and happier. Regular cleaning keeps bacteria and pests away. Hence, we have to know the different ways to make our home the safest and most beautiful haven to be.

How? Take a look at these six tips to help you maintain a clean and lovely home:

Put away the clutter.

This is the first step you must take prior to cleaning up. One reason a home becomes unpleasant to look at is clutter—toys, papers, books, clothes, shoes, etc.—on the floor or in other areas they aren’t supposed to be. Take time to pick up whatever items you see scattered everywhere in the house and decide whether you should put them away for good or return them to their proper storage. Once you are done clearing the clutter, everything else follows.

Clean sinks and other parts of the home that have something to do with your plumbing system.

Your kitchen and bathroom sinks must be checked from time to time as they accumulate various forms of nasty stains, grease, and debris. Keeping your toilet and kitchen sinks clean helps prevent clogs and other plumbing problems. Most of all, it is a good sanitary measure that prevents pests, viruses, and bacteria from residing in your home. Use all-purpose cleaner to dissolve dirt and stains in the sink.

Sanitize your kitchen every time.

Your kitchen is one area in the home that serves as a good breeding spot for all sorts of germs and bacteria because it is where we prepare and cook food, where we eat, and even where we spend time with members of the family. Any activity could take place inside the kitchen. It is therefore expected that you can find dirt and acquire viruses and diseases from the kitchen. Hence, disinfecting surfaces like tables and countertops is the way to go. Also, don’t forget to sweep and mop your kitchen floors to make them squeaky clean and discourage the invasion of troublesome pests like ants, cockroaches, rodents, etc. If these pests live in your home and hard to get them rid contact a professional pest control for help.

Vacuum and change beddings regularly.

Dust, needless to say, are one of the main factors that trigger asthma, respiratory problems, and other allergic reactions. Vacuuming your floors, mattresses, carpets, upholsteries, and other hard-to-reach spaces in your home is one sure tactic to remove dust as well as pests like bed bugs and dust mites. You also need to change bedsheets and/or pillowcases especially before you vacuum. It feels really nice and relaxing to live in a dust-free and clean home environment.

Disinfect doorknobs.

Obviously, all types of hands touch the various doorknobs in the house. Hence, it is just fitting to regularly wipe your doorknobs with disinfectants such as alcohol (with 70% solution) or antibacterial cleaner to kill germs and viruses including Covid-19.

Throw your trash and observe waste segregation properly.

Proper waste segregation is a must if you want to protect your home from unpleasant odor, toxic chemicals, harmful bacteria, and pest infestation brought about by not properly storing your garbage. A well-sanitized home is one that’s free from smelly, unsegregated, and undisposed garbage, which is a perfect home for pathogens and toxic chemicals.

If you wish to lead a healthy life away from stress and health issues, you must learn to do these basic but helpful tips to better home sanitation. It is never too late for you to start being fond of home cleaning. Remember: A clean home is a happy home.
