A stick or a stone will not do the trick of breaking your Monday blues. Neither will wailing out “I wish Mondays don’t exist!” – okay, fine, maybe this one will work for a split second.

But think about it, we all know for a fact that Mondays happen, and yet we still feel blue. Is this just a case of we-don’t-wanna-get-over-it? I sure think so!

So here I am, jotting down a few ways on how we can bid Monday blues goodbye, without having to sulk our way through a single Monday ever again!

#1 – GO TO BED EARLY ON SUNDAY

One of the biggest reasons we feel “blue” on Mondays is due to lack of good rest, or, too much rest.

Enjoy a productive (or fun! It really depends on what you prioritise when you're not working) weekend. But sleeping too little or even sleeping too much might throw your whole week (at least your Monday) off balance. If you feel that your weekend was too tiring, make it a point to get to bed early the night before as you need to have good rest to feel fresh for the new week ahead of you

#2 – GET ORGANISED: PLAN YOUR WEEK AHEAD

Don’t let Monday scare you. When we return to the working world on a brand new Monday, some of us feel lost due to the sudden surge of unchecked emails, new meetings, etc.

Plan your week beforehand and make yourself mentality ready to face what awaits you in the coming week. Many offices hold Monday morning meetings and I think that’s a great idea to keep everyone on track. Just make sure to spice up the meetings with some quirky updates, interactivity, videos and images – otherwise you’ll have a room full of sleepyheads.

Freelancer like me? Plan your week way early so you don't feel too strained on a Monday morning. I've fallen in love with Mondays since I started doing this for my freelance business.

#3 – GREET EVERYONE

This one’s a great booster. Smiling and greeting everyone “good morning” is a great start to the day.

They say we should always surround ourselves with positive people, so why not start with ourselves? Not only will you feel better, you never know who else you might be cheering up. Ask colleagues how their weekend went and share snippets of events that happened in the last two days over lunch.

Don't have colleagues? Work alone? Be chirpy during virtual calls, maybe?

#4 – TREAT YOURSELF

Speaking of lunch, have a great meal on Monday.

Although I believe in meat-free Mondays, it doesn’t mean I need to have a sad meal. I treat myself to a bar of chocolate or a cold glass of bubble tea every Monday during lunch just to make myself happier.

Find out what you like to eat and drink and save it for Mondays – doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast at home, lunch at work or dinner out. Make sure to ask your loved ones and friends along, too.

#5 – LEAVE YOUR DAY JOB

If all else fails, leave. Why worry about Monday blues when you can freelance from home and work or play whenever you like? There would be no need to worry about which day is blue and which isn’t. It’s a great option if your current situation allows you to make this choice. Go for it if you can!

Those are just some ways one can beat the Monday Blues. What do you guys do to make sure you have a better Monday? Share with me!
