Let's face it: having ants in every corner of your house is a dreadful sight. It isn’t just irritating because a colony of ants can also cause significant damage. Having ants in your home is extremely unsanitary. Ants in the house undoubtedly contaminate the food and carry bacteria that can be transferred to food or an open wound which is why Ant Control Sydney homes become essential. Ants are a diverse family which makes it difficult to handle them considering their characteristics.

They stay in our premises as if they own it; however, there are some methods that can assist you in keeping them away, one of which is to keep your house spotless. We recommend some fantastic simple methods that you should try right away to ensure that there are no ants in your home. Here's how to get rid of ants in your home.

Remove any food sources

If ants discover a reliable food source within, attempting to control them and convincing them to return outside may prove difficult. Ants have a single goal: gather supplies, feed the queen, and safeguard the colony. If you have crumbs in any part of your house or furniture you usually eat at, this could be the beginning of your ant issues. Ants can feed on any food irrespective of its size.

Why does this work: If ants cannot find a reliable food source indoors, they will most likely leave. Their primary concern is gathering food and directing other ants to where they can find it. By getting rid of the food supplies, you are leaving no option for them to return.

Seal the entry points

There are several approaches to this step. Begin by thinking about where you see ants entering your home, and then:

Check that the window screens are free of holes and in good working order.

Seal cracks around windows and doorframes, as well as tile cracks.

If you have ants in your home on a regular basis and they come up from behind the baseboards, it may be time to caulk your baseboards to keep ants out.

Why does this work: If the ants are not to get it, they won't be able to find food, and if they are unable to find food, they won't be able to establish themselves inside.

The Landscape

Make sure the plants in your yard are always well maintained and trimmed, particularly those near the house. They must be kept at least 18" away from the foundation.

Why this works: Ants are a massive issue, and it is impossible to keep them completely out of your garden. The main objective is to keep them outdoor, where they pertain, and plants and limbs against the house can become highways for ants looking to get inside to find food.

Pet food at bay

Ants, particularly pavement ants, adore pet food. Pavement ants are drawn to protein-rich foods and will consume all of your pet's meals during the day. When your pet isn't eating, keep the food away, sweep up any stray pieces, and don't leave food outside!

Why this works: Pet food is an often-overlooked source of food for ants. If you happen to leave pet food out, you are probably inviting ant trouble, and if you leave it outside during night time, you may attract other animals, such as raccoons.
