This time I tried recipes from The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Butterbeer to Pumpkin Pasties by Tom Grimm. Butterbeer, Mrs. Weasley's carrot cake, and even Harry's birthday cake.

Butterbeer

Total cooking time: 15 minute

Active cooking time: 15 minutes.

Ingredients for four servings:

Butter - 1 tbsp.

Sugar - 2 tbsp.

Milk - 500 ml

Whipping cream -100 ml

Cinnamon - 1 tsp

Vanillin on the tip of a knife

Cocoa - 1 tsp

Cream soda - 250 ml

Cooking:

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add sugar and let the mixture caramelize a little.

Add milk, half the cream, cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa. Mix and remove from fire.

Add cream soda and heat again a little, but do not boil.

Whip the remaining cream.

Serve beer garnished with whipped cream.

Comments:

The drink is spicy, sweet and warming. Just what you need for an autumn day. The only thing is that it was too sweet for my taste. Next time I will change this recipe from Harry Potter a little and put less sugar. The sweetness of the cream soda seems to be enough.

Dudley Dursley's Donuts

Total cooking time: 2 hours 30 minutes.

Active cooking time: 1 hour.

Ingredients for four servings:

Dry yeast - 1 tsp

Sugar - 40 g

Milk - 100 ml

Flour - 250 g

Butter - 45 g

Egg - 1 pc.

A pinch of baking soda

Vegetable oil for frying

Powdered sugar for serving

Cooking:

Add yeast and a teaspoon of sugar to warm milk. Stir and leave for 5-10 minutes to wake up the yeast.

Mix flour, milk with yeast, remaining sugar, butter, egg and salt. Knead the elastic dough. This can be done by hand or with a food processor. Leave it in a warm place to rise for about an hour.

Sprinkle a board or baking mat with a little flour. Roll out the dough into a layer about a centimeter thick. Cut donuts with a hole in the middle with two glasses of different sizes. Cover them with a napkin and leave them to part for half an hour.

Fry donuts in a pot or pan with high sides in plenty of oil. Put the finished donuts on a paper towel to remove excess fat. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Comments:

The donuts turned out fluffy, tasty, and fragrant. From this amount of dough comes out 8-10 pieces. Donuts are best eaten right away while they are hot. I like to serve them with powdered sugar, but you can cover them with confectionery icing.

Harry's birthday cake

Total cooking time: 4 hours.

Active cooking time: 1 hour.

Ingredients for 6-8 servings

For the chocolate biscuit:

Butter - 160 g

Chocolate - 100 g

Eggs - 4 pcs.

Sugar - 100 g

Vanillin on the tip of a knife

Salt

Cocoa - 15 g

Flour - 80 g

Baking soda - 1 tsp

For cream:

Dry mix for vanilla pudding - 1 sachet (35 g)

Milk - 400 ml

Sugar - 2 tbsp. l.

Butter - 190 g

Powdered sugar - 40 g

Green and pink food coloring

Cooking:

Melt butter and chocolate over low heat. You should get a homogeneous mass.

Whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Add slightly cooled chocolate mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix cocoa, flour and soda. Combine dry and wet ingredients.

Pour the resulting dough into a mold and bake at 160 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Readiness to check with a wooden stick. Cool the cake and cut it into two parts.

Prepare the pudding according to package directions, but dissolve the mixture in 400 ml of milk and add two tablespoons of sugar. Cool down.

Mix softened butter, powdered sugar and vanilla pudding. Beat with a mixer.

Set aside a quarter of the cream for the filling. Then take 2-3 tablespoons of the cream and color it green. Color the remaining cream pink.

Collect cakes. Grease the bottom cake evenly with uncolored cream and cover with the top one. Cover the whole cake with pink cream. Write a congratulatory inscription in green. It is convenient to do this with a pastry bag or a regular bag, cutting off a corner from it.

Place the cake in the refrigerator for a couple of hours or overnight before serving.

Comments:

Harry Potter's birthday cake according to this recipe came out quite successful. The cakes are rich, moist and moderately sweet. And the cream resembles butter roses on cakes in Soviet confectioneries. But the most important thing is, of course, the design. Decorating a cake is not difficult, but for Harry Potter fans, it causes justified delight!

Mrs. Weasley's carrot cake

Total cooking time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Active cooking time: 30 minutes.

Ingredients for 6-8 servings

Egg - 4 pcs.

Vegetable oil - 250 ml

Sugar - 200 g

Cinnamon -1 tsp

Finely grated carrots - 400 g

Ground nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts) - 200 g

Flour - 250 g

Baking Powder - 1 tsp

Cream cheese to serve

Cooking:

Mix eggs, butter, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.

Add carrots and ground nuts.

In a separate bowl mix flour and baking powder.

Combine wet and dry ingredients.

Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour. Put the dough into it. Bake at 180 Celsius degrees for about 50 minutes.

Serve cake with cream cheese.

Comments

Mrs. Weasley will not give a bad dvise . The cake came out moist, fragrant, dense and quite satisfying. You can immediately decorate it with buttercream frosting. Then the cake will have to be eaten immediately. But I prefer to keep it unglazed, wrapped in parchment. In this form, the cake does not get stale for about a week.

Magic caramel with cinnamon

Total cooking time: 10 minutes.

Active cooking time: 10 minutes.

Ingredients for 6-8 servings:

Butter - 250 g

Boiled condensed milk - 400 g

Cinnamon - 2 tsp

Pinch of baking soda

Cooking:

In a blender, mix softened butter, condensed milk, cinnamon and salt. Pour into a clean jar and store in the refrigerator. Serve with waffles, pancakes, and any other baked goods.

Comments:

A simple but very successful sauce for desserts. Butter made the taste of boiled condensed milk softer, and cinnamon added piquancy. The real magic, just like the book promises.
