If you are running your blog on a writing platform, I will suggest you must create your website because your content and effort might be unsafe.

Why am I saying this?

When you work in a company or organization, a company owner is free to kick you out even without reason or based on a personal grudge. You cannot assist the company owner to let you be in the company.

For example, if for some reason a blogging platform removes you from the site or deletes your account, you must have your property be on the safer side. If you have a blog or website, you can upload your writing stuff there and you can monetize it. That's why I will give you sincere advice – whatever you publish on blogging sites, keep a copy of it on your laptop. I mean save your content so that the efforts that you put into creating your content won't be wasted.

Simple advice for all writers/bloggers

  • Create your website or blog: You can your website on your own through blogger or WrodPress. If you are looking to create a free website, then blogger is good option for you. But if you are willing to invest some money, then you can consider WordPress, and for wordpress the good hosting option is hostinger.
  • Safe your content into a folder: The article that you write and post on writing sites like vocal media or medium, make sure you save a copy into your laptop. In case, your account is removed or you face any other issue on the site, you can use your content to upload on your website. And your effort will be secured in this way.

I am not saying leave the platform. No, some platforms are amazing to work on, like Medium and Vocal Media. But here the account is not you cannot control certain things. So, create a website that will be your property. And keep running your blog on writing sites as well.

Tips to follow if you want to stay on blogging sites

  • Provide a quality content
  • Be active on the site
  • Don't violate the platform's policy
  • Don't misuse any platform

Take away

Having a website is a greater source of passive income. Plus, it can save you from frustration if you are removed from any platform. And your website is your property while when you work on any other platform, you are working as an employee and slave (I think). Because if you made a mistake unintentionally on the platfroms they can remove you under the blam of violation.
