Getting back to normal has been an adjustment for many people, who need time to ease back into things and are still adjusting to life in the era of covid. Simply wearing a mask at work does not deescalate the health risks that one can face and leaves people feeling uneasy at work. If you are still in this same boat when it comes to working around others there are a few steps you can take to keep your workplace and yourself safe and healthy.

1. Sanitize Your Work Station

A simple action anyone can take to make themselves feel safer is to make cleaning their designated work area a habit. This is as easy as wiping down your work station with a sanitizing wipe, using a cleaning spray, and reminding others around you to do the same. By frequently cleaning throughout the day you decrease the likelihood of spreading or coming into contact with harmful germs.

If you want to go the extra mile you should also sanitize frequently used items including printers, pens, touchpads, phones, door handles, etc.

2. Items to Keep on You

Sticking with this idea of cleanliness, a couple of items you should be sure to keep on you for extra protection include personal sanitation items.

- Hand Sanitizer

-Disposable Gloves

-Extra Masks

-Sanitizing Wipes

-Sanitizing Spray

All of these items are cost-efficient and can be kept on hand to help minimize the spread of germs and promote good hygiene practices. Not to mention that all these items can be easily found at any convenience store or ordered online.

3. Items To Leave At Home

Just like there are items that you should keep on you for sanitation purposes, there are also some things that you should leave at home. In an effort to minimize the opportunity for unclean surfaces to make contact with yourself and others try to leave non-essential accessories such as jewelry, ties, and watches at home.

4. Keep Your Distance

Workplace cleanliness goes beyond physical health, it also refers to keeping your mind healthy. To keep your mental health at ease you should remember to adhere to social distancing guidelines and minimize the amount of face-to-face contact you have with others. That means being six feet apart from co-workers to allow everyone peace of mind at work through the encouragement of social distancing.

However, if physical distancing is not possible for your specific situation then try and to allow yourself and your colleagues as much space as is possible. Alternatively, active ventilation by opening windows and doors to increase ventilation can help since airflow can help prevent virus particles from accumulating within indoor spaces.

If you are put in a situation where social distancing just is not possible then consider using a face shield. Wearing a face shield in addition to wearing a mask is helpful for decreasing your risk of coming into contact with virus particles from those around you.

5. Be Honest About Your Health

Right now honesty really is the best policy when it comes to being sick. No matter if it is a simple flu or something more serious, if you feel like you are coming down with something let your boss know. Right now many new policies have been put in place regarding health that allows you to stay home without penalties.

Also, do your part to help the collective majority by speaking up if someone else is sick so they do not get others infected as well.

Now that you know a few ways to keep yourself and those around you at safe and healthy be sure to spread the word about these tips. After all, it always feels better when you are in control of your well-being.
