Why Seattle Is Great For Business People

If you’re thinking of relocating to Seattle, you’re not alone. The cool climate, the laid back lifestyle, and the quality of life are big reasons the Seattle area has been up-and-coming over the last few years. But even more than that, Seattle has quietly developed into a hotbed for new and growing businesses.

Why is Seattle becoming such a significant destination for businesses? It’s simple—many of these companies are operating in the technology industry. Microsoft, Nintendo of America, and Starbucks have called the Seattle area home for many years. This has also led to numerous startups springing up in the area. And, that means plenty of investment capital to fund their innovative ideas.

If you’re someone with an entrepreneurial spirit looking to start the next big tech brand, Seattle is a terrific place to set up shop. Let’s look at some of the main reasons Seattle is excellent for business people.

Employees have a higher tendency to stay loyal to their employers.

One of the significant benefits startups enjoy in Silicon Valley is also one of their biggest problems. When startups begin to catch on, they get flooded with people trying to get in on the ground floor. However, the instant things look like they’re starting to turn sour, a lot of those same folks jump ship and leave their employer high and dry. Seattle doesn’t have the same problem, and it’s not at all uncommon to see people remain with their employer for many years.

The talent pool in the area is outstanding.

A lot is made out of the skills gap between what employers need and what job applicants have to offer, and tech talent is often at the top of that talent shortage list. Seattle doesn’t have the same problems in this regard as other cities, especially with heavy hitters like Microsoft and Amazon in the area.

Its proximity to Silicon Valley is a significant benefit.

Seattle is its own market. So, there are going to be times when companies there need outside talent and funding they can’t find within the Seattle metro area. Being so close to California, and Silicon Valley, in particular, means that Seattle companies are only a two to three-hour flight away from anything they might not be able to find at home.

Seattle has more of a community feel than many other major metro areas.

Anyone who has worked in a business role in major markets like New York or California knows that the culture can be more than a little cutthroat. Seattle is a bit different because companies are still competing with one another. You don’t see the same kind of inter-business wars that you might see someplace like Silicon Valley.

As you can see, there are many great reasons to get your startup company up and running in the Seattle area. And, if you’re thinking of making a move, there are many Seattle homes for sale that will be perfect for you and your family!
