1. Editor

If you love stories, novels, or non-fiction and you’re really good at grammar, sentence structure, and anything related to writing, a career in editing might be the one for you. Although writers do the main labor in writing a book, editors play a significant role in making their ideas clearer for the readers. They can offer a fresh set of eyes for writers, making it easier to spot mistakes that the writers may have overlooked. Simply put, editors can help writers turn their book from good to exceptional.

To become an editor, publishers will prefer someone with a college degree in English, communication, or journalism. However, it is not required. Besides education, it’s also vital that you have a strong passion for reading, good grammar, and an aptitude for editing.

2. Book reviewer

Did you know that you can get paid for giving out your opinions on books? As a book reader, you get to guide the audience and give them a sneak peek of what they can expect from the book. You could either use a quote that you got directly from the book or take a section from the book, expound on it to give the audience a flavor of what the book is all about.

Once you’ve submitted your review, you can get paid for it. Although at first, you may have to buy the books yourself and review them for free. As you build up your portfolio, you’ll be able to work your way up to become a top-level critic. Before you know it, you’ll have piles of books lining up just waiting for you to get your eyes on them and rate them.

Of course, if you’re planning to become a book reviewer, it comes without saying that you should be well-read. Since you’ll be giving your opinions about the book, you should be able to back up your thoughts and justify your opinion.

Working as an author will give you the power to bring your characters to life. You’ll have complete control of what the character does and how the story goes.

There’s just one downside to working as an author: it can be extremely challenging to get your book published. Chances are, you might have to go through a lot of rejections before you get your first book published. But once you do, it will be the most fulfilling things you’ll get to experience.

5. English Literature Teacher

There’s nothing quite the feeling of nurturing young minds and introducing them to the fascinating world of literature. Being an English literature teacher, you’ll be discussing literature with students all day, every day.
