If you have never does this before, you will find that the process gives huge opportunities to improve your Google rankings.

Summary of the steps

  • Look for the phrases for which your pages rank
  • Look for the page in the Google search results and confirm the ranking.
  • Improve the page optimizing it for the keyphrase. This process indicates the relevance of the page.
  • Check again to see the improvement.

This is quite a fast process. You do not require researching for the keyphrases as Google Analytics provides you with the phrase. The process takes 5-10 minutes. So, isn’t it worth the effort?

Step-by-step approach

Take a look at the Queries report

First of all, you need to find the keyphrases for which you are ranking almost high. These are present in the Google Analytics report. Experts of SEO suggest that you can approach the same as this. Go to Acquisition> Search Console> Queries.

Your search console account must be linked to Google analytics. Only then can you access the report. The report will show you the phrases that you rank for. The number of times you have appeared in Google which is also known as the impressions. It also shows the number of times you pages were looked into or the clicks and your average position or how high you rank for the phrase. The report shows the data for the last three months and does not include the last two days. Thus, you need to set your time to the cover 3 full months to get the entire data

Use of advanced filter: We are looking for pages that only rank in Google but require an improvement. For this, we need to set up an advanced filter to look for the phrases for which your website ranks high, but not too high in SEO.

A page ranking greater than 10 ranks high on page two. It presumes that there are 10 organic searches on the first page. Though you do not want your pages to rank on page two, a high on page two means that you are headed for page one. You might be below the tipping point.

Sort the report: Click on “average position” for sorting the report. You have to click it w twice to see the 11 s at the top. You may save your filtered and sorted queries in the form of shortcut. It will help t you to get to the same easily next time. Thus, you only require clicking on the shortcut to reach to the above report. The report is available at any time in the left side navigation bar of Google Analytics.

Go through the list to look for the phrases and confirm the findings: In the report, you will also many odd-looking phrases seeming to be irrelevant. Just ignore them and keep looking forward. Further on, the report may also show phrases including your brand name. Search engine optimisation requires getting traffic from the non-branded phrases. This is going to give you the best rankings possible applying SEO.

Look for buyer related phrases. There are two kinds of keywords. The question mark keywords include the phrases that people use for researching a problem.

Dollar signs or keyphrases that are used by people who know how to solve their problem. They look for a presume solution with these phrases and are ready to spend for the same.

Confirm the rankings: Search for phrases on Google. You will notice the position the average position is not the same as the rankings. You may see yourself ranking higher than what is mentioned in the reports carrying out this aspect of SEO. At certain times, it may not be present in the report.

This may be due to several reasons. For example, you may more than one page ranking for the phrase. Your site may be present in the image search results. The search results could be personalized based on the location. Thus, do not expect the data to be accurate. All you need is just clues. Look for the phrase that ranks in the Google results but not too high.

Now, see how the phrase is used on the page. The phrase must appear on the page at the right places. The page should indicate relevance for the phrase. So, now you have the chance to improve the ranking switch a little effort.

Check if the phrase appears as whole or is broken while it appears on the page. Does it appear in the toile, header and the body and how many times it is used for each location?

These are the preliminary steps to improve your SEO rankings easily.
