So you may have had your business for a while or it might be brand new. Either way one of the most important things in business is getting sales.

Without sales you really have no business.

Now I'm not saying your going to make a sale instantly after reading this. But I am giving you strategies you can use to help you sell better along with a few resources that have helped me.

We will also go over some sales mistakes and why you could be missing out on the sale.

Why Are You Missing Sales?

So why are you missing out on the sale.

It could be several reasons

  • The person doesn't have the money.
  • The person doesn't want the product.
  • The Person doesn't need the product.

Who knows people have their reasons. Some are legit and some aren't legit reasons .

Although just because someone says no the first time, this doesn't mean they are never gonna buy or wont buy in the future.

One of the key things I learned about selling is to be persistent, and have high amounts of energy.

The person you are speaking to might not buy the first time you talk with them or even the second, third or fourth time.

It could be the twelfth time you talk with them they decide to buy because they have a need for the product now or they can afford it or they trust you more.

Who knows. They have there reasons.

This is something I've learned it can be frustrating in sales especially if you're working so hard to make a sale.

Years ago my boyfriend found this opportunity that we got started with online. We thought it was going to make lots of money easily and fast. We'll that's what we were told anyway and what people made it look like.

We made a few sales to friends.

But then I definitely struggled. My boyfriend had an easier time making sales.

For a few reason he kept it simple.

I over complicated it. And two I was to afraid to get on the phone or ask for the sale.

He had such an easy time asking for the sale and getting on the phone.

So it took me a few months to make my first sale.

I had been prospecting on Facebook trying to get customers, posting everyday if not 2 or 3 times a day.

For all the work I was doing I wasn't getting good results.

So this is when we found a company that provided training for small business owners, MLMers and Affiliate Marketers. People who wanted to build a business online.

Sure they had great information and I learned tons from them.

But I still had a hard time make sales.

And when I look back at it now my biggest issue was not asking for the sale.

And not going back to the person over and over again. I realize now that people don't always buy the first time so it's okay to check in every few weeks. This will also help them remember you more.

So lets talk about how to get more customers to your business by using a few of these strategies below.

Reach The Right Audience

So one of the first things you'll want to look at is if you are reaching the right audience. Are you targeting the right people?

If you're not sure what a target audience is, basically it is a specific group of people who you sell your product or service too.

You want to consider their demographics and psychographics.

  • Whats their age?
  • Where do they live?
  • Whats their income level?
  • Do they have kids?
  • Are they married?
  • What kind of jobs do they have?
  • What type of personality do they have?
  • What are their values?
  • What kind of lifestyle do they have?
  • What are some interests and hobbies they might have?

Those are just a few things you'll want to know about your audience. You can find out more about your audience inside your analytics.

Some social media accounts have analytics for you to look at like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others.

If you have a blog you're able to check your blog analytics for information as well.

So after you have an idea about who your target audience is this can help you create better content and give you a better way to connect with your audience as well.

If you know them you can relate.

Lets say for example you sell a supplement to help people lose weight.

  1. Now lets say their is a man who is going to the gym all the time and talks about how he working on getting bigger muscles.
  2. Then you have this other guy who is going to the gym and posts pictures of him losing weight because his goal is to loose 30lbs.

Now you probably are thinking to yourself I would want to target the second guy, he might be interested in my product. The first guy would not be interested because he doesn't want to lose weight he wants to gain muscle mass.

So start thinking about your products or services and who has a need and want to buy your things.

Does this make sense?

Consistency Is Key

You may have heard this before and I've talked about it before. This is one of the major things that can make a big difference .

And I'm not saying you have to be consistent like the major companies out there or people who have been in business for years and have everything set up.

I'm talking about figure out a consistent way you can work. What works for your schedule.

If you can only work 1 hour a day because you have kids, a job and other obligations. Then when you sit down to work make sure that this is the most productive hour and get things done that helps bring in results.

So why is this important?

Well if you're starting out and don't have a big following and your brand isn't known then people don't know about you.

And if people do come across your content they might like it, they might be interested in it but they can easily keep scrolling by and looking at other things.

So a way to stay on someones mind is to be consistency so they keep seeing your posts, videos, promotions whatever it is that you are doing to bring in more customers.

Write Blog Posts

One way to bring in more customers and have them finding you is to start blogging.

Blog posts can get ranked in the search engines. So if someone is looking for information about a specific topic you want your blog post to be the place they go to for information.

If you're new to blogging you can check out the video below which gives you 3 simple steps to start blogging for beginners. You can always create your free blog here.

Now one of the great things about blogging and a reason it can help you get more customers is that you can customize it and add your own Widgets.

If you don't know what widgets are these are basically ads or banners you can put up in your blog.

So you're offering your products and services to visitors in a non spammy and pushy way. They can choose to click on the banner to find out more information.

Another way to bring in more customers is to have a Call To Action at the end of your blog post. You will want to have your reader do something after they finish.

Is it buy a certain product or service? Is it to join your email list? Is it to join a private group?

What is it you want your reader to do once they are finished?

If you're wanting to know how to write a blog post I show you how to do this easily in WordPress.

Make Videos

Another way to get more customers is to publish videos on YouTube.

Video is a great way to connect with your audience and educate them about your business in a non salesy way. In your videos you can talk about a problem or something your audience would be interested in learning and then at the end you can promote your product or service, this would be your Call To Action. We also talked about this in the blog section above.

CTA Example : You simply let the viewer know if they want more information about XYZ they can buy XYZ by clicking the link in the description below.

This is powerful because you don't have to be there for the sale. This person is looking for information and happened to come across your product or service and decided to buy all because they watched your video.

I personally find it easier to get videos ranked in YouTube then ranking blog post in Google. The blog posts that have shown up in Google took time to get ranked. Videos happened right away for me and they ranked on the first page.

Watch the video below to learn some tips you can use to promote your business on YouTube.

Use Social Media

Above I shared with you that you have your audience finding you through blogging and videos but these tactics can take some time and practices.

One of the simpler ways for you to get more customers is to use social media.

All you need to do is create a social media profile.

So I'm not going to say one platform is better than the other.

You can pick which one you like to use.

I do recommend focusing on 1 or 2 platforms if you are starting out. It can be a lot of work to build up your social following and engagement if you have a few hundred followers or none at all.

Once you created your platform you'll want to create content you're audience is interested in engaging with.

You can watch the video below to learn daily social media post ideas.

So lets do an example. Lets say you use Instagram to promote your business.

And you don't have many followers and you don't get much engagement.

What you can do is use hashtags. Hashtags is a way for your content to get seen by people who don't follow you.

But it can also be used to prospect and find potential customers for your business. You can do this by searching specific hashtags in the search bar that your audience might be using.

Now I'm not saying go through and message every single person asking them to buy from you. Especially in the first message. Don't ask them to buy or send a link in the first message.

You'll want to ask questions to find out if the person your talking to...

Needs your product

Wants your product

And can afford your product

If they want the product but can't afford it then don't write them off your list because when they get money they will buy what they wanted.

So take advantage of the social platforms where you know their are tons of people. You just have to find your customers.

Ask For The Sale

One of the reasons you could be missing out on sales is that you're not asking for the sale.

It sounds easy enough. But it can be hard.

It's something I really struggled with. When someone would tell me they need help with something instead of saying, hey I can solve this problem lets start today.

I would keep asking questions thinking I need to gather more information or build a better connection with the person.

But in reality alls I should have done is pointed them to the direction of my product and asked for the sale.

I also will say I had a fear of being rejected as well. You might have this same fear.

Honestly I had to realize that their will be lots of rejection and this doesn't mean anything on my character or what type of person I am, it just means they didn't want to buy what I was selling.

I also was worried about saying the wrong thing and losing the sale. Which was psyching me out as well.

Ultimately to help me overcome lots of these sales struggles I listened to audiobooks. The ones I listed below are a few I listed to over and over and over again.

I've probably heard them all 10 times or more over the years and I'm still finding great information even when I re-listen to it because before I missed it or didn't really understand it. But then listening to it again something just clicks.

Below are some audiobooks I would recommend that has helped me in sales.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you learned lots.
