The Challenge

Our partner was a life sciences organization with more than 10,000 employees around the world. They developed a new transportation management system (TMS) to reduce their carbon footprint, become more sustainable, and optimize their delivery process. However, they needed their employees in different regions and departments to learn how to use that system in order to ensure its success. Hence, an effective enterprise software adoption plan was required.

The Solution

We developed an effective software adoption training program and divided it into three phases:

Phase 1: Developing a Blended Strategy

We created a digital learning series with the help of a blended strategy because it uses multiple training methods, consists of different training sessions, and can increase learner engagement at different levels.

We divided the training series into two separate series for engaging learners at both the discovery and advanced levels.

Phase 2: Creating the Curriculum and Personalized Learning Paths

Creating curriculum and personalized learning paths was important because employees in different departments, roles, and regions had to learn to operate the system in different capacities.

For creating personalized learning paths, five key roles were identified.

For creating the curriculum, the training series was further segmented into three parts in order to enhance the personalized experiences and increase knowledge retention:

• The foundational series of modules covered the basics and introduced different topics. Some modules were also designed especially for the onboarding process to learn about the new system quickly.

• The advanced series covered modules that explored each specific topic more deeply.

• The final series covered modules about proper application and provided opportunities for learners to practice and apply their learned knowledge.

Phase 3: Utilizing a Range of Training Methods

We used different training methods throughout the adoption process to increase the success rates, such as:

• Animated videos to engage learners and enhance their user experiences.

• Interactive modules to keep the participants learning actively.

• Scenario-based training allows learners to solve problems similar to what they’ll encounter on the job and apply their newly-learned skills in a life-like and risk-free environment.

• Assessment modules to evaluate knowledge retention.

Each module consisted of high-quality visuals and animations to provide better training and keep learners engaged.

The Outcome

Our partner witnessed a significant increase in their user adoption rates after implementing the software adoption training program. While the personalized learning paths sped up and scaled the training process, more and more employees learned how to use the new TMS system effectively with the help of the training program. As a result, the organization was able to speed up the process of working towards its goals.
