Don't Stop

Keep Creating Vocal Stories, Poetry and Fiction

Don't Stop

The Inspiration

I wasn’t sure whether this was going to be a poem or just a story (that implies a poem is more worthy than a story but means nothing of the sort). I am taking the words from the chorus of Fleetwood Mac's song from “Rumours” :

Don't stop thinking about tomorrow

Don't stop, it'll soon be here

It'll be better than before

Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

And I take this as part of my modus operandi, the other one being “There Must Be A Better Way Than This”

Good Times, Bad Times

Although I give the impression that everything is perfect for me and life is just a vase of roses, it sometimes isn’t. Due to a series of unfortunate incidents over the last couple of weeks, I don’t seem to have much time to myself, and sometimes that makes me want to withdraw, but I counteract that by chatting with friends and finding things like this to write about..

If I am in bad times I believe that good times will come, and often I will be writing and think I will never finish what I am writing. One of my solutions is to take a break and maybe write a poem, or even not write and just walk, listen to or play music, knowing that I will get time and I will pick up.

I Can’t Stop

People remark on my viewing figures and I always push the fact that I write and publish a lot. I worry frantically that my writing is not good enough. It is good enough for me but how good is it for others, and one day will people see my name and just ignore it because it is a piece by me. I felt that in the past and when I see a recent piece like my “February Black History Month” story about how it affects me (you can read below) on six reads I have to wonder if I am just quantity rather than quality.

Keep On Keeping On

Vocal friends and my Vocal Facebook audience continually verbally endorse my work, and I value that because it makes me believe \i can write more and people will appreciate it.

Any subject is a target for me, although Music and Poetry and commenting, like this story, on Vocal and writing means that I am unlikely to hit Writer's Block, and I see so many of my fellow creators hitting that roadblock.

My mind is seldom blank, and I can usually find something to say.

When I have conversations with friends they often remark how I talk non stop and they can’t get a word in edgeways, so maybe that is one of the reasons I have never been hit with writer’s block.

A previous big cheese manager of mine who was a great guy, after two presentations I had given, put me on a timer because I kept overrunning. Maybe it’s my age and because I have been through a lot that makes me able to pour out words in conversation and creation as I do.

Writing Fiction

I find this difficult because to create fiction I cannot really create from nothing, I need some spark and an idea and have a Muse who does provide so many creative sparks for me, but I am in awe of all the Vocal Fiction Creators, and I feel I am not worthy to be in their company, but they do make me feel valued and welcome.

In Conclusion

I will not stop. I will continue creating. I will be here for all my friends, and I have many literary mountains to climb and with the help of my friends I will scale those peaks.

I hope this helps others who may feel like I do at times.

You go, You know you are the perfect You.
