If you are a content creator or someone who is planning to become one then you have definitely come across the term “copyright”. But what is it?

Well, it’s a protective mechanism so that others don’t use your content without your permission. And if they do then you can accuse them of violating copyright protocols and take legal action. And why is this necessary you may ask?

Suppose you are a rookie video streamer and somebody took your video without asking you and used it on their own platform. Now you might think that your work is basic so what if they take it? And if they gain success from it my name will spread since I am its creator so that’s good isn’t it? But when it got famous they claimed that they created it and you couldn’t do anything. Cause there’s no proof that you are the creator. And also you didn’t even care about it when they took it and only asking for it when it gained popularity. So whom do you think the public would side with?

That is why there’s a need for copyright for the content. So that, no one can steal someone’s hard work and claim it unjustly.

Over the years this has become even more strict. And almost every content creator applies for it when they create something they wish to publish. Now you are thinking about which types of content are able to apply for copyright. The good news is there are no limitations. It can be anything from written content, video streams, images, illustrations, etc.

And because of this now people think thrice before using the contents of other creators without their permission. And even if they do take it they would have to completely redo it so it can’t be claimed as a copyright product.

But there are some cases we sometimes unknowing to break these issues. And live streaming in one such event where things like this can happen to anyone. Such incidents can be avoided if you have some knowledge regarding them. That applies to all types of live streams like live video streaming, live music streaming, live podcast broadcast, etc.

But why in the live stream? Well, it’s on the go so some have the misconception that what you do it’s technically your own doing, or in some cases, this happens because of a lack of information about the contents or props or any other aspect. So let me give you some tips to avoid such issues.

# Check the content like a script or the probs that you are intending to use whether their licensed or not. If not then not a big but if licensed make sure to have the consent of the owner.

# No matter when or what you intend to do on the live stream you would definitely need a place to do it. Now if it’s somewhere you own then that’s not an issue but if your show is on a bigger scale that might involve the neighborhood or if the place is on someone else’s property then it’s best to ask for their permission. Sometimes in the heat of the moment, we tend to enter restricted areas and think all will be ok. But believe me that definitely isn’t the case. It’s restricted for a reason. For instance, there can be a nuclear powerplant or some endangered species both of which can put your life in harm’s way so it’s best to heed the warning respect others’ opinions.

# There are many live streams that are sponsored by brands to sponsor their products. Thus if you are sponsored you always keep in mind to mention the involved brand and their products otherwise it will be counted as a violation of the contract between you and the sponsor. Which is a battle you are sure to lose.
