1. Freelance sites

Upwork and Amazon are two sites that you can use to find transcription work. These sites are not guaranteed to find transcription work and the rates you will be paid for it will depend on the client.

Amazon MTurk is a great place to practice transcription without actually applying to a company. To get an idea of how it works, create an account and try out some simple transcription HITs.

2. Scribie

Scribie is also an option. It used to be called Call Graph. They are however one of the lowest-paying companies on this list, with only $10 an audio hour.

After you submit your application, you will need to pass a transcription test. Scribie pays via Paypal. To cash out, you only need $1.

3. TranscribeMe

This site is used frequently by many of my readers (when work is available). Signing up is simple and they charge $20 per audio hour. You will need to take a quick exam, which is automatically graded. If you pass the exam with enough accuracy you can begin transcribing.

The audio files are only 8-10 seconds long and you get paid every week via Paypal.

TranscribeMe, one of many jobs you can do at home that pays weekly is also available.

4. AccuTran Global

AccuTran Global, a legitimate transcription company, will hire you as a beginner although you must pass a skills test.

After you have told them your availability on a weekly basis, they will provide you with a schedule. The majority of the work is a transcription for financial conference calls.

Beginning transcribers receive $0.005 per word for basic audio and $0.0066 per word for difficult or foreign audio that is done by senior transcribers. Monthly pay is via wire transfer or check. They are available to US and Canadian citizens.

5. Quicktate

Quicktate is a company that offers transcription services for beginners. It is also one of our most trusted. The pay ranges between 1/4 to 1/2 cent per word and is paid via Paypal twice a month.

Sign up for a test and you will be notified if you pass. Quicktate will also conduct a background check to ensure you are safe to transcribe sensitive files. This is $15.

6. Rev

Rev has been around for some time now. They are known for hiring newbies, though their skills test can prove difficult to pass.

The site states that some transcribers can earn more than $200 per month, which makes this an attractive option for additional cash.

7. Tigerfish

Another well-known transcription company, Tigerfish, is open to hiring newbies. They have been around since the beginning.

They charge 3-4 cents per line to be transcribed. You will need to download some audio files and transcribe them as a test. This will require downloading the Express Scribe software (free).

8. Daily Transcription

The company says they are always looking for skilled and novice transcribers.

This company allows you to work part-time or full-time. They prefer that you are available for "on-call" as assignments change frequently. They cannot guarantee that you will have the same amount of work every week. All applicants must submit a resume.

Speechpad provides transcriptions and captions at different prices. This means that you can earn different amounts depending on your experience. If you are experienced, then you will earn a lot more than someone who is just starting out.

They pay as high as $2.50 per minute, which is pretty good. This is better than a lot of transcription websites.

In theory, you could advance pretty quickly and even get to $2.50 per minute. It will surely be difficult in the beginning as they don't have a lot of low pay jobs at times. Once you prove your worth, this website will prove to be one of the best transcription websites for you.

They have a 99% accuracy guarantee, so you will need to be very accurate. I don't think that you can expect to be paid $2.50 per minute if you are not accurate. Overall, I am quite impressed by this website.

Verbal Ink

Verbal Ink can only be used by people who reside in the US. There are some requirements. You will need to have special transcription software and a foot pedal.

If you are interested, they will only ask for your resume. It would be difficult to be accepted by them. You might have to take a thorough test before they approve.
