Have you ever wanted to make money from your smartphone, but the only methods you could ever come across are filling in bogus surveys or leaving product reviews? Not only are these boring ways to make money with your smartphone, but they are futile in their ability to actually make you money. It’s for this reason that in this article I will teach you seven ways to make a $100 day on your smartphone.

Scan and sell books

By Susan Q Yin on Unsplash

Back in the day the only person making money selling books online was Jeff Bezos through Amazon. But lucky for you, there is an immense potential to use the platform he created to make money with your smartphone. In fact, a few years ago I explored the world of Amazon FBA or fulfilled by Amazon, where I would buy used books for my local library, then flip them on Amazon for a profit.

Before I get into how lucrative this moneymaking method is, let me explain how your smartphone is involved. You see, the Amazon app has a scanner where you can scan any product you can find, in my case books, and see the going prices for the item on Amazon. Then you can calculate the cost of shipping and storage at Amazon and see if you could flip that book on their platform for a profit.

For instance, if you can buy a book at a bookstore for $1 and it would cost $3 to ship the book and start at Amazon, but you could resell it for $15 then you could snag yourself a profit of $11 from that one single transaction. Multiply these efforts by a hundred and all of a sudden you are making some serious money.

Well, it would seem that making $100 a day would be challenging with this approach, but it really isn’t if you know what you’re doing. In a day you could easily scan hundreds of books, and if you obtain a profit margin compared to the example I just gave, then all you have to do is sell $10 a day to earn that extra $100 you are looking to obtain.

Manage social media

If you know anything about the world of social media, then you will know that there are tons of people who are in the entirety of their income on popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In fact, the most highly paid celebrities can earn more than a million dollars for a single post. Well, you are probably aware of how lucrative these media outlets can be for these influencers, you may be less aware of how someone without a following can make a lot of money using these same channels.

You see, most of these influencers do not manage their own accounts and simply partake in the content creation and hire someone to take care of their logistics. Managing these logistics is where you come in. It could be posting for someone’s account, responding to possible advertisers, or responding to their fan's messages.

Influencers that are earning thousands of dollars a day are very open to having someone manage their accounts so that they can free up their time for other income-generating activities. If you were to charge $20 per day to manage 5 social media accounts, then you could easily make that $100 you were aiming for. In fact, with software automation, you can do this in less time than you would think with minimal costs, making this method of making money on your smartphone one you should definitely consider. In order to land a gig managing social media accounts, what I recommend is called messaging large accounts to these platforms or finding clients on freelancing websites so that you can gain experience and credibility in this field and scale from their method.

Virtual assistant

In the world of professional services, one world that is becoming much more prevalent is virtual assistants. From booking meetings to taking customer calls, the role of an assistant is one that anyone with a smartphone can do and can be rather lucrative given the minimal training requirements. According to payscale, the average hourly wage of a virtual assistant is just under $20 an hour, meaning that with 5 hours of work you can make that $100 you are aiming for.

Now, in earlier times, this role was rather limited in its output abilities. As an assistant you could basically just field calls, coordinate with vendors, or set up meetings if you were working for a business. Nowadays, with all the advances in phone app technology, the services you can offer have expanded dramatically. You can review word documents, book hotel accommodations, manage calendars, and do a host of different activities. Not only does this list continue to expand over time, so do the rates you can charge for your services, meaning that your phone can turn from a money sink to a money maker.

Language tutor

With the rise in popularity of video, calling comes the opportunity to teach language using the phone you carry with you every single day. Whereas traditional calling made over the phone tutoring rather ineffective, being on a video significantly improves the value your students receive. The best part about tutoring using just your smartphone is that internet connectivity is available just about everywhere, so you can connect with students in your city, in your country, or even around the world.

This is a radical change from when you used to have to drive to someone’s house to tutor them. Simply put, technology connectivity has changed the game, not to mention tutoring can be very lucrative. Language tutors can make anywhere from $10 to $100 an hour based on their experience level and the demand for their services. In fact, as the world continues to adopt English as a common tongue, more and more individuals are seeking services that you yourself could offer simply with the phone in your hand. So if you want to put your phone to good use and help someone improve their language proficiency, then this may be the option for you.

Professional closer

One thing that every business needs to continue to stay in business is sales. And if you are a master salesperson, then with simply a smartphone, you can start to earn yourself more money. You see, not every business excels in this area, and many will hire salespeople to help them move products or entice others to sign up for their services. Without a doubt, this is the most lucrative way you can make money with just your phone.

Forget $100 a day, you can actually make $1000 a day if you know what you’re doing. You see, when it comes to earning potential in sales, it all comes down to how much you can earn for the business you work for. For instance, I have a friend who works at a major tech company in California and he sells millions of dollars worth of products every year. Not shockingly, when you are making business millions of dollars, then you deserve to be handsomely compensated as a result. This is why sales are so lucrative. It is a win-win for both the salesperson and the business.

The more sales that are transacted, the more money the business makes in revenues and the more commissions the salesperson obtains. But obviously, not everyone wants to work in sales full time, given the high-stress nature of the job. And luckily, you don’t have to. Freelance sites like Fiverr allow you to take on projects where you can get paid a nice portion of each sale you make. For instance, selling marketing packages costing anywhere from $3000 to $6000 will net you $500 which is a solid return if you can close some deals. So if you’re already talking on your phone for hours a day, why not drum up some deals and make some money?

User testing

whether it’s an app, a website, or a video game before anything is released to the public, it must first be tested. And if you have a smartphone and some time, this can be a great opportunity to make money. Platforms like Respondent connect testers with creators so that those who are building online assets can access real people who will point out the bugs and errors that any other users would run into when using their products or services.

One of the main benefits of testing company utilities like apps and websites is that it literally takes no experience whatsoever. All you have to do as a tester is be yourself. Test the platform exactly as you would in a real-life situation and voice your thoughts and frustrations out loud so the site developers can understand your experience. Now, you’re obviously wondering how much money you can make, given that it takes no experience at all. And the answer may surprise you. For each test you take, you’ll earn $10 and a typical test lasts approximately 20 minutes, meaning that you can be earning a cool $30 an hour while also helping businesses get their products off the ground.

Ridesharing

While you shouldn’t text and drive, there is no reason why your smartphone can’t team up with your car to make you money. If you have a smartphone and you don’t mind driving around town, consider using your cell phone to pick up a side hustle as a driver for Uber or Lyft. The average driver makes $19.73 an hour. Now, keep in mind that this is after you pay your expenses of gas and routine maintenance. So this method of making money comes with more cost than the others I have previously mentioned.

However, if you’re comfortable driving in bad weather or during rush hour, you can make even more. As you are probably aware, Uber and Lyft apps notify you when there’s a rider nearby and you can accept or deny the ride at any time. If this method of making money with your smartphone interests you, then there are a few things you need to know about each ridesharing service. To start to drive for Uber you need to have your driver’s license for at least one year and a reliable four-door vehicle. If you’re under the age of twenty-three, you need to have at least three years of driving experience. Uber runs a background check and you’ll need to submit copies of your driver’s license, car registration, and insurance.

Once you’re approved, you can open the app and start scheduling rides. And Uber takes 25% of each of your ride's fares. Lyft has a similar system, but they also allow drivers to rent a car to use on their routes for an extra fee. Lyft takes 20% of all fares, but drivers get to keep all their tips. Lyft provides free extra insurance for drivers and drivers get to rate passengers. Lyft also requires a vehicle inspection and runs a background check. Both Uber/Lyft drivers can withdraw cash from their account immediately through express pay, making it a superior option in terms of cash flow.
