We live in a digital age where almost everything is now connected to the internet and can be accessed digitally from anywhere on the globe provided you have a nice internet connectivity. According to datareportal.com; about 60% of the population is already on the internet reaping its benefits and has been growing at a staggering rate with 346 million new users coming online in the last twelve months. My attention however was drawn to one particular statistic and that was the number of mobile phone users across the globe. Out of the whopping 60% of the population who have access to the internet, 91% of the same use mobile phones to browse the internet.

Does that ring a bell if you are content writer trying to build a name in the digital world?

Have you ever wondered despite the wonderful content in you blog, the views are not what you expected?

And if you are not a content writer have you ever come across a content on the internet on your mobile phones which gave you nightmares while scrolling through the content?

If you answer is a yes to all of these or even a yes to one of these, the solution is right here. There is big possibility that the content you developed in your blogging site or the content you just viewed on your mobile device are not optimized to mobile viewing. In this article, I will cover 5 strategies one can incorporate while writing content on the internet while optimizing the same for mobile viewing. Nevertheless, before getting started with the optimization problem at hand, if you are interested in learning different content writing strategies, I would recommend the Content Strategy Course by HenryHarvin.com.

Tip#1: Use responsive design

In HTML, there is a concept of responsive websites. Similar to the problems that occur for content on the internet, the websites suffer through the same unless the developers’ convert their website into a responsive one. If you want your content to be mobile friendly, use the responsive design which automatically resizes your content for viewing on the mobile device.

Tip#2: Optimize the load speed for mobile devices

As per Google, for every second delay in the load of a page, 12% of the users abandon the site. If you happen to be one of the mobile users who loves exploring the internet while enjoying the comfort of your bed, imagine clicking on a website and waiting for it to load. That’s pathetic. Hence, optimizing the website for speed on mobile devices plays a vital role while creating content for mobile.

Tip#3: Write compelling headlines

Headlines make or break your audience’s interests. Believe it or not, content performance on the internet is more visual that factual. No matter how relevant your content is unless you are able to grasp your audience’s attention, there is little hope. Since, mobile phones have relatively smaller screen sizes, make sure your headlines do not exceed five words.

Tip#4: Create relevant content

This tip is in general for creating quality content on the internet. Nonetheless, on a mobile phone, it is easy to get distracted and thus the content quality becomes very essential to engage your audience.

Tip#5: Use other medium to promote your message

Having a high resolution image or an embedded video in your blog enhances your blog by using different modes including texts, info-graphics and videos. Adding relevant images and videos which make it easier for the audience to understand your point is always a value add to your content.

With that we reach the end of this short article listing 5 tips to write mobile friendly articles. Having said that, let me also emphasize that all of the above is the tip of the iceberg called the content writing optimization.
