There comes a point where you have enough money to buy anything material that you'd like. For me, that point is nowhere to be found and probably won't ever be found for most of us. However, there is a way to pacify this issue.

The "pacifier" for you, playing the part of the baby, is a side hustle or multiple side hustles. Since you clicked on this article, you probably know what a side hustle is, but just in case, a side hustle is literally a hustle that you do on the side. To be less trying with it, a side hustle is a job that you do on the side as a separate income stream from your main income source.

Side hustles are great since they allow you to do something you like or enjoy while yielding a monetary benefit. Side hustles can be your "pacifier" by providing you with another income stream, in turn, allowing you some form of financial freedom.

The core problem with side hustles is that nowadays, they are extremely in demand. Most people are either looking for them or already have one, which makes it quite hard for you to find a second income stream and your "pacifier."

In this article, however, I plan on alleviating the stress of this issue for you by providing you with three side hustles that are fresh, unspoken about, and all yours to take a try at!

Blogging, Writing, and Ghostwriting Online

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're a writer on Medium. If you're reading this and you're just a reader on Medium, then you're also close to making blogging or writing side hustle.

Writing on Medium and Vocal Media is great! They can make you hundreds, thousands, and in some cases, even tens of thousands of dollars a month! It's hard, but doable as we've seen with examples such as Zulie Rane, and Tim Denning. However, there are many alternatives to writing on Medium and Vocal Media.

Although it's very new, Quora recently announced Quora +, another place where you can earn money for writing. To be more specific, with Quora +, writers can now earn money from writing answers on the platform as well as by creating subscriptions for spaces, what I like to think of as Quora's form of publication.

Another one is Newsbreak; I have yet to get into Newsbreak and to be quite honest, I don't think I'll be getting into it very soon either. Newsbreak pays quite well.

The way Newsbreak pays is different from other platforms. For each story you write, you get a score ranging from 1–10. A score of 1–4 earns a $25 base payment, and a score of 5–10 earns a $60 base payment.

These are not the only options for writing and blogging side hustles. There are plenty more out there, such as more boutique and individualized opportunities.

The subject of individual opportunities brings me to ghostwriting. Ghostwriting is basically where you write behind the scenes as a ghost for clients. You as a writer will write whatever article, speech, or story they'd like, and then you'll earn a good amount of money depending on how well established you are. The more ghostwriting you do, the more you earn.

Skill Based Freelancing

Freelancing is the most flexible and enjoyable thing I can think of when it comes to side hustles. Freelancing literally has the word free in it, so it has to be good! I mean, who doesn't like free things? Freelancing lets you choose what you want to do, and in some cases, can even help you find more niche-specific side hustles.

If you don't know where to start, start with well-known sites such as Fiverr or Upwork. List out what you're good at or have expertise in, and make a profile. Soon enough, orders should trickle in, and you'll start earning.

The reason this is an underrated side hustle is that on Fiverr and Upwork, there are a lot of people. This, in turn, makes people think that there's no benefit in using them. However, there are plenty of benefits since they can help you find the perfect side hustle for you and get you started with freelancing.

Freelancing is amazing; freelancing is extremely flexible and liberating. It's a great and easy place to start with side hustles, and I highly recommend it if you have a skill or expertise that people would be looking to purchase.

Teaching Online

Most approach teaching online as another job, but it really is a side hustle. You set your own hours, work when you want to, and get to interact with other people. Teaching online pays pretty decently, and there are quite a few places on the web for you to get started, such as teachable and open learning.

If you have some sort of a background, degree, or expertise in a field that would qualify you to teach, get to it since there is money to be made and people to be taught! Teaching online is enjoyable and extremely flexible. There is always going to be a demand for teaching, making it easy to find customers, especially through the popular sites mentioned above.

You could also pursue teaching a course online through teachable as well or Thinkfic, or WizIQ. However, this would be most effective if you already had an established audience. If you don't already have an audience, it could be hard to build one from the ground up while spending lots of time on making the course.

The Red and Green Flags To Side Hustles

If these side hustles don't appeal to you, search for some on your own. There are plenty of side hustles out there, some of which have yet to be discovered. When choosing side hustles, always keep in mind some red and green flags to help you with your process.

Some red flags you could encounter when searching for a side hustle…

  • It makes you spend more time on your side hustle than your main hustle
  • It is not enjoyable
  • It takes a lot of time and yields little

If you encounter any of these red flags, look for another side hustle because a good side hustle will not do any of those things.

Some green flags you could encounter when searching for a side hustle…

  • It provides you with enjoyment and energy to continue
  • It gives you the potential to grow
  • It is profitable and doesn't consume too much time

If you encounter a side hustle that satisfies some of the above, this could be the side hustle for you!
