Governor of South Carolina from 2011

The Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 was Nikki Haley.

Nikki Haley, whose full name is Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley, is an American politician, diplomat, and businesswoman who served as the 116th Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017. She was the first woman to hold the office, and the second Indian-American, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. Prior to her governorship, she represented Lexington County in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011.

In 2011, Haley ran for Governor of South Carolina and was elected, becoming the first female governor of the state. During her tenure, she focused on job creation and economic development, as well as education reform and government transparency. She also gained national attention for her response to the Charleston church shooting in 2015 and for her role in the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Statehouse grounds.

In November 2016, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Haley to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She was confirmed by the Senate in January 2017 and served in that role until December 2018.

After her tenure as UN Ambassador, she has become a public speaker, author and some political commentator in news media and also considered as a potential candidate for national office in the future.Nikki Haley, the former United States Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina, has been hinting at a possible presidential run in the future. As an Indian-American, Haley would bring a unique perspective to the presidential race and has the potential to make history as the first non-white female president of the United States.

Haley, who was born in Bamberg, South Carolina to Sikh immigrants from India, began her political career as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. In 2011, she was elected as the Governor of South Carolina, becoming the first female and first non-white governor of the state. During her tenure as Governor, Haley focused on economic development and job creation, as well as education and infrastructure.

In 2017, President Donald Trump appointed Haley as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. In this role, Haley was a vocal advocate for American interests and values on the global stage. She was also known for her strong stance on human rights, particularly in countries like Syria and North Korea.

After resigning from her position as Ambassador in 2018, Haley has been active in the Republican Party, giving speeches and appearing at events across the country. She has also been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden's policies and has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Haley has not officially announced a candidacy for president, but her recent actions and statements suggest that she is considering running. In an interview with Fox News, Haley said that she is "always open" to the possibility of running for president and that "it's something that I think any good public servant should consider."

If Haley does decide to run for president, she would bring a unique perspective to the race. As an Indian-American, she would be the first non-white female president in the United States. Additionally, her experience as Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina would give her a strong background in both foreign policy and domestic issues.

Haley has also shown that she is not afraid to take a strong stance on issues, particularly on human rights and national security. This could appeal to voters who are looking for a candidate who is not afraid to speak their mind and stand up for American values.

However, it's important to note that a presidential run is not guaranteed, and it's ultimately up to her decision and the outcome of the election. Additionally, there are other factors that could play a role in her decision such as the current political climate and the performance of the economy.

In conclusion, Nikki Haley is an Indian-American politician who has been hinting at a possible presidential run in the future. As a former United States Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina, Haley has a strong background in both foreign policy and domestic issues. If she decides to run for president, she would bring a unique perspective to the race and has the potential to make history as the first non-white female president of the United States.
