1. Distract yourself with tv! Start watching those shows on Netflix you’ve been dying to watch. Rewatch your favorites on Hulu. Or catch up on those shows you once never thought of missing. Tv can fry your brains, but not as bad as sitting around wondering why you haven’t gotten a text back.

2. Pick up some new hobbies! Finish that collection of books that’s growing dust on the shelves. Take up that cooking class you’ve always wanted to do. So you can stop take out and have a cookout. Start your mini garden, so you can take pictures of them rotting in the window for your new found interest in photography.

3. Listen to some music. It’s been hours, on hours, on hours. No text. No call. No anything. You know who has always been there for you? Music with the classic tub of ice cream. Your headphones have never felt so perfect in your ears. The ground has never felt so soft. And as your eyes gaze up at the ceiling to watch the ceiling fan make its usual rounds, the soft silky voice of rhythm and blues flowing through your ears has never felt more comfortable and nurturing than anything in your life.

4. Take a nap. Sometimes there are just too many hours in the day. Especially at this moment when you keep looking at your phone thinking it’s been two hours when in fact it’s been two minutes. Pass the time with a soothing nap. Turn the fan on, lay in your bed, wrap yourself in your favorite blanket and head off into a worry free sleep.

5. EAT. some people say not to stress eat, but desperate times call for desperate measures. And you are desperate. EAT. Eat till your heart is content. Or suffocating from overstuffing yourself. Either way the crunch of the chips soften your madness. The sweetness of the juice brightens your bitterness. And the softness of the Twinkie is better than a kiss from any stinky persons lips.

6. Exercise. The guilt from heavy eating is starting to set in and you’ve always wanted to lose weight. What better way than to finally get into the gym? How about a run around the block. That really lets off some steam and gets the body going. Boosts your confidence and you can’t even remember what you were upset about in the first place. Also the motivation of just five pounds lighter makes you feel better when you-know-who realizes what they are missing.

7. Friends. Everybody has friends. You start to reminisce about all the good times you had friends. The nights out, the adventures, the mischief, the never ending memories. The memories make you so happy and you pick up your phone to text them when-

You remember that’s why you’re here. Because you don’t have friends. You haven’t hung out with anyone in months. You changed. They changed. You distanced yourself, and nobody thought to lend a hand. While you were at your worst, they were at their best. And that’s when you met: the one. At least you thought that was the one. You rushed into it so soon, you didn’t see the signs. Just someone to feel the void because you hate being alone. You can’t stand to be alone... in the silence... with your thoughts. With your never ending thoughts. Why don’t they ever end? Why can’t they end like your other relationships, like your friendships. Like your life...
