What Is Life?

It breaks my heart every time I read about tragedies that leave permanent scars in someone's life. No one should suffer pain or loss in any of its forms, one way or the other. I don't mean this only to humans but to all sort of living species in this world. A homeless dog hiding in the woods for shelter and struggling for a single meal, but without hope, is not something that any canine should experience, simply because they're pure in their heart. I wish we lived a harmonious life in this world, in which every being is equally provided for and equally treated. A disabled person longing to possess what he/she can't have is hurtful. Life isn't fair, is it?

Imagine meeting the most beautiful girl in your life whom you can't take your eyes off from, even for a single minute. However you know for sure that she isn't going to have the financial support from you to lead a joyful life. This puts you in a push-and-pull situation. You want her so desperately and yet you don't want to spoil her cheerful life that a sophisticated man can easily offer. To be in that present moment hurts. However there is a subtle joy in thinking about it if it were a past experience. Life is condescending, ain't it?

One man taking the life of another has become a cliched news these days. Everyday we hear about people being troubled, tortured or murdered. When I think about it it causes unbearable pain but if it happens everyday we slowly turn a deaf ear towards it. No one wants to waste their health or time by worrying about strangers. It makes sense in some way. However is there a way to stop cruelty and savagery? If only there were a solution to stop a person from taking another person's life this world would be a playground where we all would be kids forever. Life is cruel, ain't it?

Why would someone think he or she is superior to others? And why would someone think he or she is inferior to others? No man or woman is born that way. It's only the values and virtues that he learns, and that he unlearns, the amount of values and virtues he ends up lacking for, the values and virtues that he chooses to preserve in the end, that matters. If that's the case then why has superiority and inferiority not yet been abolished in this world? What if a baby were to have the intelligence to learn on day-one that he is inferior to the baby next door? How devastating would that be? I'm glad that these notions of superiority and inferiority come into picture only after a kid grows past his age of innocence. Life is not all the same, ain't it?

There are some people who, no matter what situation they are in, always find a way to glide past the miseries of daily life. Humor, especially if used to hide miseries, is a powerful tool in conveying positive messages. And when you meet such a person in life, who surrounds himself with humor, the best option will be to befriend him instantly and instinctively. Humor can be suppress many problems in this world. Humor is the sugarcoat that every person in this world who is secretly a patient in hiding, needs for a better life. There is a movie that evokes such passionate and strong emotions in the viewer's heart, that I watched long time back. It is an Italian movie directed by Roberto Benigni.

The movie talks about, rather shows the possible extent to which a joyful man can go, to put a smile on others, including the viewers.

The movie is set during World War II and hence there are few heart-wrenching scenes sprinkled in and out. However the scars, miseries, cruelties and similar speed bumps are sugarcoated using the art of comedy.

When I finished watching this movie for the first time, I remember telling myself, "Life is beautiful, ain't it? Or is it not?".
