Today it seems as if almost everyone is afraid of committing to a relationship. I hear a variety of excuses: a past broken heart, losing half of your possessions in a nasty divorce, or experiencing the dreaded BBD (someone looking for a bigger, better deal). Let’s face it, for many of us, staying single sounds like a great idea. But we humans were made to have a partner, and life is too short to go through it alone. So if you haven’t committed yet, here may be some reasons why…

For Women

1. It could be you.

You may think you’re ready for a commitment, but if you keep attracting men who are players or who are emotionally unavailable, it could be you with the issues. We attract people to ourselves who are aligned with us on a vibrational level, whether we realize it or not.

2. Deal with it.

So maybe you’re the one that isn’t ready for a commitment. Take a break from dating and get to know you. Many women lose themselves in relationships and it becomes all about the other person. Find out what makes you happy. Hire a good therapist and deal with your issues, start a meditation practice or take up yoga. Be happy by yourself first.

3. Trust your gut.

Women are born with a very strong intuition, but often we ignore what it is telling us because our desire to be in a relationship is so strong. If a man tells you he’s not ready for a commitment, it could really mean that he won’t ever commit to you. Trust your gut, if he’s not the one for you, there’s another guy who is…

For Men

1.Don’t be fooled.

Men seem to believe that they want to commit when they meet the girl of their dreams and fall in love. Um, no. First the man becomes ready. Then, the next great girl he meets that he has amazing chemistry with he marries. What makes a man ready? He doesn’t even know. It could be a promotion at work where he feels like he can support a family. It could be the death of a loved one. It could be walking past a dad with his kid on the street and feeling a pang of desire to have children. It could be waking up next to a girl whose name he can’t remember and being tired of the game. Anything.

2. Be honest.

Yes, I somehow work this into every article. If you are not ready for a commitment, make sure you tell the woman you’re dating. If you’re always honest, you can never be the bad guy.

3. Hurry up.

Let’s be serious, there are some amazing, beautiful, smart women out there. If you get a real chance with one of them, don’t let them be the one that got away! Nothing is worse than living life with that regret.
