What are the ways a person can improve himself/herself?

Young

What should people do that will benefit them in 6 years?

I have thought about this question for a long time and have come up with some interesting ideas.

Ten minutes reading time, I hope to end the confusion of many people do not know what to do when they are young.

01

When I was in college, there were a lot of students and friends around me, have had a grand vision of what to do, made a lot of plans, but also made a lot of attempts.

One of the students, when determined not to let their college wasted, once spent several nights, to develop a very! Its! Bull! Awesome! The schedule.

In this neat and detailed table, not only how many hours a day you should study, what books to read, and what kind of exercise you should do on weekends, how much time to spend on part-time jobs, and even how to relax during breaks, how long to play cards and how long to play games are made precise arrangements.

In order to always remind themselves, more in case they can not do when the schedule tore up.

He used a whole roll of transparent tape to stick this sheet firmly on the writing table next to the bed.

He stuck it in so many layers, so firmly, that at graduation, we spent over an hour scratching and poking with a knife to get it clean.

The planner ultimately didn't make any difference to his college. He gave up on the plan after less than a month, but for years afterwards, when he talked about it, everyone would tease him about it.

The schedule, which could not be torn off, became the most ironic testimony of his decadent college life.

This incident has touched me a lot, it let me know: at a young age, even if you know more "things that may benefit you in the future", even if you have made more determination, even if you have made more careful plans.

You still may not achieve anything.

Before you read my answer, there are countless answers on the topic of what to do at the age of 25, from Renren to Douban to Zhihu, and even Baidu.

For example, when you're young, you should read books, you should manage your money, you should work out.

All quite reasonable, but also can not do.

This is not the first time you have seen such articles.

So, now ask yourself seriously: how many such articles have you collected that you feel must be useful in the future? And among them, how many things are really stick to do down?

You know the reasoning, what to do things also know, why you can not do?

Has anyone seriously thought about it.

I have thought about it.

In a few months after graduating from college, I shut myself in a small, cramped rental house every day after work, repeatedly to sort out the summary of the past decade or so I had taken a detour, divergent paths, backtracking.

It is extremely cruel to analyze all my inner cowardice, confusion and confusion.

I had been thinking about this issue for a long time, until suddenly one day it dawned on me.

The reason we can't do it is because most people, for the most part, can't relate what they have in front of them or what they are about to do, to their future gains.

After all, the gold across the mountain is not as good as the copper.

I don't write for a living, so what's the point of reading so many books?

What's the use of managing money when you have so little money a month?

What's the point of working out when you've already grown like that?

I do not want to go abroad, do not take the Foreign Ministry, do not go to foreign companies, you let me try to punch the clock to learn English is not funny?

......

The reason why I started to "think seriously and summarize my life" only after graduation is because I encountered a lot of difficulties and setbacks at the beginning of my career.

That's how people tend to be, they only think about holding on to their feet when things get to the point.

We are actually very short-sighted creatures, and it is hard to delay gratification. It's like the ad says: I want it, I want it now.

Can not think of this problem, even if Warren Buffett stood in front of you, hand to hand to write down the 99 things you should do when you are young, you will still be in the wasted and doubt, none of them can persist in doing.

Unless, he can tell you for sure, after doing these 99 things, you can go to take his class; better, to strengthen your belief, he then signed a guarantee agreement with you.

02

After I figured out the above problem, I thought more deeply: the reason why we can't see through the future earnings is because there is an insurmountable barrier between what we are doing now and our future goals.

Time.

No one has the superpower to see into the future, no one can 100% guarantee that what you do now will definitely have a positive effect on the future (with the exception of those who have the guidance of famous teachers and valuable people to help them).

To put it bluntly, in fact, the above question, is a question of input - time - output.

If you want to do something, you have to input, but because there is a major variable of "time", but can not accurately measure the output.

On balance, most people will choose not to do anything, or try to slacken off after a period of time.

In case the struggle does not help, it is better to lie down and rest.

In order to crack this problem, I had to think hard before finally getting a very strange "idea".

Since our inputs are subject to the interference of the uncertainty of time, what if we take "time" itself as an input?

Wouldn't the previous public announcement be simplified to "input (time) - output".

Input requires capital, and for most people at the age of 25, time is the only capital they can have when they are young.

So, the core of this idea is summarized as follows.

All the things you can do at the cost of your time, but also to generate revenue, are things you can do.

The rest is to find something that meets the above conditions and fits your reality as much as possible.

03

The reasoning is done, here is the dry goods.

Under the guidance of that strange "philosophy", I have divided the things I think I should do at the age of 25 into the following broad categories.

First, tools and skills acquisition.

The human brain structure and muscle memory mode determines that tools and skills once acquired simply can not be forgotten, you may be able to return to the teacher a few months after the college entrance exams what stereo geometry, linear algebra, but if you learned to play the piano, ride a bicycle and other things as a child, even if you do not touch a few decades, give you half an hour to pick it all up.

So, learn more of these things while you're young, and you'll never need to spend any effort on such things again. For example, some hobby-related musical instruments, ball games, and quality of life related to cooking, swimming, driving, and the future workplace related to PS, PPT, VBA skills, and so on.

This list can be very long, depending on how much time you have and want to do something, the characteristic of this kind of thing is that as long as you do, the effect must be visible, because this is really in line with the law of 10,000 hours things.

Second, the benefits and the length of time is absolutely positively correlated with things.
