We Are All 12 Inches Long

And Our Differences Are 3/4 of an Inch

If a person’s essence is 12 inches long, our differences all fit within one quarter of an inch. Humans, to many people’s dissatisfaction, are all the same.

Biologically, our differences are minuscule; we all pump blood with hearts, we all support ourselves with muscle and bone, and we all hold it in with skin and hair. The tiny differences between us biologically are microscopic, perhaps we have different levels of melanin in our skin and yes, and some people have genetic deformities, but we all go to sleep and wake up basically biologically identical.

Spiritually, no one person or group has the right answer. Our beliefs may be strong enough to overshadow the need for physical proof, but beliefs in higher power generally fall among similar lines: we aim to appease a standard of life, love, and justice. These efforts of striving towards the approval of a higher power may take form of a large group of people with similar beliefs, or may only be a group of a few in a remote corner of the world; and perhaps for some, the higher power is something we have set on our own and the higher power is our own satisfaction. Regardless, a majority strives toward some non-physical sight of judgment.

Mental state is where the largest changes live, and these changes all fall within the basic human state of mind. Each life that you walk past during the day is made up of happiness, insecurity, fear, and desire. All of our thoughts and mental planes fall within these categories, but how we demonstrate them is where we all differ. The category of thought that moves us the most influences our behavior. In this world view, mental illness is greatly made up of those who have not been taught to care for their mental state and who have run very strongly by their specific mental categories. Other types of mental health can be summed up by chemical imbalances that are in mainly cases easily rectified. Even with such a dynamic part of the human experience, the differences included in mental states only adds up to a tenth of an inch in the foot long human essence.

Love is the great divider and uniter; it can bring together people in vast waves and make entire communities bleed. Be it who you choose to spend your life with, if you choose to bring life into the world, or if you choose to love yourself most of all, all forms of love seem to be a source of fear for many. However, all of the issues the the media loves to pick apart and type in red bold face all involve an agreement of commitment and dedication. However, the subject of that dedication is what seems to drive angry forces and cause enormous pain and rage among communities.

We each get so consumed by the ways we seem to differ from the world that our lives become dramatic and and in an amazing way, though we are all similar we all experience a loneliness that we are misunderstood, however, we understand each other because we experience the same 11¾ inches. And despite this, wars are waged aimed at the tiny differences between groups of people. Wars to fight against the right way to be in love, the right way to love your god, and right color to be, and the right way to think. All of this violence, money, time and passion over tiny differences in biological differences, mental categories, spiritual expression and love makes the world erupt with fear and allows the beautify of these tiny differences to become something dirty and targeted. However, in the eyes of children, who historically tell the truth more than the people around them, these differences are interesting. They have not yet become scary or unnatural. These biological differences are simply there and not offensive, love is comforting and safe, mental states are simply different personalities, and spirituality is a story. Should the leaders of this world, and we the people who hold them up, examine the world around us through younger, less afraid eyes, there would be far more acceptance and tolerance around us, and resources would be spent exploring rather than fighting.
