Kadeem HoseinPublished 3 years ago in HumansThe Boy with the Teacup Tattoo
I have seven tattoos, but the one people seem most eager to see is the teacup on my ankle. They seem to appreciate the lengths to which I have gone to declare my love of tea. I do love tea; in fact it is one of my favourite things. However, this is not why I have adorned myself with its famed receptacle. And, no, it isn't because Ed Sheeran or Louis Tomlinson has one either. But, as it's quite a long story, I often just don't correct people when they assume as much. However, it's nice to have an opportunity such as this to explain the full tale.
Matty LongPublished 3 years ago in HumansI Don't Have Any Friends, But...
Yes, being alone does not mean I'm lonely at all. But there are people who have asked me over the internet: "how do you survive without having any real-life friends?"
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in HumansBeing a Xennial in 2020
What Is a Xennial? Pronounced: “zen-knee-el.” A quick search of Wikipedia will give you the definition of a Xennial as any person who was born from the late 1970’s to as late as 1985. We are the micro-generation caught between Generation X and the Millennial generation. This is because we were born at the very end of one and the very start of the next. We grew up a lot like most of Generation X, but then awoke to a world of drastic change; just as we entered into adulthood.
Timothy A RowlandPublished 4 years ago in HumansTriple Threat: Being an LGBT+ Black Female (+ in a STEM Discipline)
In theatre, being a thriple threat means being able to sing, dance, and act. Although I did do theatre for a year in high school and have years of history earning gold stars on Just Dance, the only part of that criteria I meet is being able to act, and that's being generous to myself. For me, being a triple threat has nothing to do with my talents and more to do with my identity: Black, Lesbian, and Female.
Tate YoungPublished 4 years ago in HumansTen things Covid-19 has created that need naming
Ever since Coronavirus, Covid-19, the Rona, or whatever you want to call it, came into our lives, things have been different – drastically different. Every day has become a collection of disconnected socially awkward moments with once simple tasks becoming a massive ball ache to achieve.

Rebecca LeighPublished 4 years ago in HumansHow To Build A Community
A year ago, I published a video called ‘If You Decide To Love Someone’, and currently, it has 2 million views. I believe this brought a lot of people together because the vulnerability that was expressed, and it is this vulnerability that connects us all as human beings. This is a good foundation to build a community on, because you will only ever be expected to be who you are. It also invites others to do the same.
Miles CarterPublished 4 years ago in HumansDISCLOSURE, J.K. Rowling, & Why the Narrative of Violent Trans Women in Pop-Culture Has to Change
For the past few days, #TransWomenAreWomen has been trending on Twitter. This is after Stephen King tweeted just that which got J.K. Rowling to unfollow him and delete a tweet where she thanked and praised him (after he retweeted an excerpt from a thread of hers).

Embracing Radical Empathy in an Age of Antipathy
When I take a look around me today, one thing has become abundantly clear: We are living through an age of antipathy. Whether it's lockdown protestors that would have the ‘old and weak’ sacrificed for the right to get a haircut, the people yelling ‘All Lives Matter’ - not as a statement of solidarity or support but rather as a rebuttal to demean and dismiss the Black Lives Movement, or the parent that refuses to vaccinate their kids and thus endangers the rest of the kids amongst them for otherwise cured diseases, a vulgar pattern of exceptional egocentrism appears.
malin evitaPublished 4 years ago in Humans Why I’m Grateful For My Racist Ex
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor' - Desmund Tutu In 2018 I was browsing in a Waterstones with my (white) ex. He picked up a copy of 'Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race' by Reni Eddo-Lodge which I had already read. He had a very disapproving look on his face and his body structure was identical to that of whenever I spoke about sexism. He was about to get defensive.
