We live in a world where information is updated so often. We live in a world full for grey and uncertainty. We live in a world where people know a little bit about a lot of things, but not everything about everything, we share a world with those people who tell lies or only speak in half-truths and there is a wealth of disinformation out there. So, it’s important we seek clarity.

Never be afraid to seek clarity, some people think this about getting others into trouble but actually it is not that at all. Clarity is about removing doubt, it shows you are smart enough to seek the information yourself.

During this pandemic we have seen online some of the most absurd claims about what is ‘really going on’, some of the silliest claims about ‘if this was a real pandemic it would be like this…’ and it has always been followed by, ‘do your research’.

Then when I have done the research, I have found it’s a fake website, or it’s a blog post of someone else thoughts, but no real credit to it. Or the person is a doctor, but not in science, medicine or virology.

As for the comments about what is really going on, well these seem to be the people who have never been a project manager. Trying to manipulate a population of whatever size to all be the same is impossible. This is why we seek clarity, is the notion or idea really possible?

Its why it not healthy to be on social media too much or use the same news outlet all the time. By mixing sources of information we consume, having breaks from the channels, and by talking with different people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences helps to create a unique view, but it keeps the mind health and active.

Clarity is what we do when we run a business or work with customers. The client comes with a problem and says you need to fix it, the clarity you seek is that of finding out the history of the problem, if it is first time or repeat. You find out what kind system it is, because without any of this information you can’t help.

People who order takeaways often ask for the order to be read back, that is clarity to ensure both parties have understood.

Clarity is about knowledge. Working in facts instead of ‘if’s and ‘maybe’s that all make life so much easier to live. Knowing you are making a decision based on facts gives you a higher chance of making the right choice.

Clarity is about simple living. We live in a world where time is precious, and nobody ever has enough. Clarity means you don’t waste time guessing what people want or need from you. You don’t need to guess how long something will take to do.

Clarity gives you trust. As an employer by clarifying the understanding of your employee means you can trust they will do the job right first time. By clarifying with clients, it means you can be confident in what you are selling.

Clarity is about building your network. In today’s society we rely on so many people for different things. But clarity means you know who can help you with what and when. It’s about everyday conversation, when you are having a night out with your friends you are clarifying where they are in the relationship and how things are going in their life. that time together clarifies things haven’t changed that you are still friends.

So never be afraid to ask questions or look at a second or third source of information. If what someone is telling you is true, they won’t care if you check it all out. Always remember someone who becomes defensive when you say you want to check things out usually have things to hide. These are the times you do check what you have been told.

Clarity is good, it’s healthy, what makes us whole as human beings.
